A few weeks ago a friend told me that one of her friends who owned a doberman was "selling" her dobe girl because her son developed very severe allergies, so she posted an add on kijiji, which is the equivalent of CL over here, A LOT of byb breeders contacted her and my friend was stressing out, because I've educated her a bit on the topic, so she knew that Maya's(the dobe) fate wasnt gonna be too bright if she was sold to someone on kijiji, so she asked me if I was interested, being the softie that I am, of course I contacted the girl, after much negotiation and trying to convince her not to sell her to anyone on kijiji, since they would obviously just try to make their money back, she finally agreed to sell her to me for half of what she was asking, now I know its nasty even to ask for money but whatever, at this point I didnt care I just wanted that poor girl to be safe. So she's been with us since last friday.

A little bit of Maya: she's 8 months old, she's very sweet and docile, she's medium energy(a bit higher than Luna), she's very smart and a fast learner, she already had some training, she's very well mannered at home, doesn't jump on counters, and only goes on furniture when invited, she gets along great with both Luna and Wallace, and everyone at home, instantly loved her, she's good on walks, a bit reactive, but we've been working on it, and I already see improvements, she's a bit of a sock and shoe horder lol, but that's alright, she doesn't have much access to them so its happened only once or twice.

So anyway, I know a lot of you might (or might not) give me the: whys? and the littermate syndrome lecture, and the female/female agression, etc, but I want you all to know that I consulted quite a lot of people on this before jumping on it, the process between me contacting the girl and going to pick up Maya took 3 weeks, I knew what I was getting myself into, and I know the risks, I am working very very hard, rotating a lot, training individually, we already have our routine, spending a lot of individual time as well, I know there's risks and we will cross that bridge when we have to, but I am happy I saved a dog from a life of misery and neglect, and I feel like I made the right decision, there's risk for everything and although I know this situation wont be easy, I'll make it work like I have with every challenge life has put infront of me. I hope you guys are all supportive and NOT JUDGMENTAL, but hey! its a public forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, thanks a lot for reading, and here's some pictures of Maya, Maya and Luna and Wallace is in some of them too.

I good to hear that you have given the dog a fair home and a proper life.

Bit disappointing that the previous owner gave up on the dog over allergies. Very lucky that you were able to take her on, not a fan of these "craigslist" and "Scumtree (gumtree)" for buying and selling anything let alone a pet

Thank you for saving her ...............have you thought about what your options are? I'm glad you're aware of female/female aggression. There is alot of knowledge on this site. Read everything you can on the subject.

I have consulted some members that have experience on the topic and I've gotten a lot of advise from them, I am following it since I respect them a lot, and I mean, both of them are near they're adolescence but so far so good, Luna seems to be the one who tells Maya to back off when she's had enough, and Maya is very respectful of her requests, so we'll see in the future, i haven't thought of rehoming, because its too premature, so far I've been educating my family a lot, my kids mostly on the topic, dobes, female agression, what to do when the play, or if ever they would get into a fight(hopefully it will never come to that), etc, I would try everything before rehoming, but of course my family is first, so far I dont wanna think about it too much, because I am happy, the family is happy and the dogs are happy

Good for you for taking her, sounds like she could have ended up in a bad place. You know the signs and know to to be careful, so you should be fine. Just keep an eye on them, and love her. Congrats!

Funniest thing is: my hubby and I are like kids with out pets now ... we are both so inlove with them and our kids too, but we are like CRAZY about them hehe
