| Does your Dobe sleep in a wire crate? If your Dobe girl or boy sleeps in a wire crate, how do you keep them warm
but not too warm in the winter? I Seem to be having trouble keeping Nala at a comfortable temp at nite now. She digs at her blanket if she gets chilly and keeps repositioning and groaning if too warm. Her crate is next to me at night so I'm constantly on alert for her being uncomfortable and she has been waking me up a lot the last few nights.

| | denormalized | I cover the crates with a quilt. The one that gets cold gets to wear jammies but does not sleep in a crate. The quilt keeps out the draft by trailing on the floor all the way around.
You can also use something like baby bumpers on the inside to reduce draft but I don't trust my dogs with something like that. I believe Petsmart used (maybe still does) carry a crate pad that had excess fabrics on the sides that tied onto the sides partway up of a wire crate - pad with bumpers all in one.

| I'll second the cover...or if your mabel and can have blankets in but not on I put her crate near the heat vent so she can snuggle at one end by the warmth or the other and be less hot

| Chase is crated at night, and it can get cold or warm. There is a duvet that covers all sides to retain body heat and keep out drafts. Right now he has a poofy bed with blankets so he can get warm. In summer, it's just blankets. Every night I use an extra blanket to cover the door.

| Rudy sleeps in a large wire crate. Well let me re phrase. He can choose to sleep in it, or on the bed. He goes back and forth. When I leave the house or when I need to give Lily a break...he goes in it. It's in my room, next to the air vent. Hot air in winter, and AC in the summer. He has a big thick blanket inside it. I have 3 sides of it covered with a thick moving blanket. The kind movers use to pack furniture when they move it. It's tough and also insulated. I've never noticed that he was ever too hot or cold.

| Re...Does your Dobe sleep in a wire crate?
- Absolutely NOT...mine would cry, for several hours straight, OR...try and escape its way out. Re...If your Dobe girl or boy sleeps in a wire crate, how do you keep them warm ?? ^^^^
Our dober pups, have sleep in the center of the master bed (from day1), till they pass.
- our last girl, would shake her head and sound her ID tag...to tell me..."Dad, open up the goose down comforter, I am coming under"...lol
Sleeping with Mom & Dad, we knew when she was too warm or too cold...and happily meet her communicated needs.
- she told us what she needed, with much smarts

| My crate is covered to prevent drafts from going in and also to stabilize the temp. Also I find it will make it more of her really private space when she wants to get away for bait. Here's a pic. Attachment 19219Attachment 19220 Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| Dreizehn has multiple fleece blankets in his crate. When it gets really cold I"ll cover the whole thing in a large blanket or two to help keep the heat in. Also, I let Dreizehn sleep in his jammies. If your dog won't eat at them throughout the night you could use jammies for her.

| Rouleaux has an extra large wire crate that he sleeps in at night and stays during the day when I am not home for him to be my shadow. lol. I wasn't happy with the price and consistency of the lower priced beds and pillows, and expensive beds might not have survived the teething stages. Soooo before I brought him home I went to the fabric store, picked out a cool lizard and turtle soft fabric and made him a "giant" pillow.
Doing this I could stuff it full of however much fluff my wallet could reasonably afford. $30, 45mins to had sew and the pillow is very durable (has gone through 2 washes so far), still soft and he loves it. Best of all, without thinking about measuring a crate (at the time I didn't have one) the darn thing fits the tray of the crate almost perfectly with enough room for a water dish...
Being that it is getting chilly (to say the least), I lined the unoccupied tray with a throw blanket and he uses my cat's bed as a pillow (he never used it anyway).
I will have to eventually make him a new pillow as he will most certainly out grow his "baby pillow" one day. first day home just now

| We keep Mazzi in one at night. We fill it with big comforters and cover it at night. She stays nice and warm in there but not too hot. She usually just makes a nest out of the blankets with her nose and snuggles in.

| Dobermans do love to be warm, don't they!
I personally would be cautious about leaving dobergoats with big puffy things.
I guess I just find it easier to share the bed with them so we can all be warm and cozy. |

| Mine sleep in vari kennels. Cher in a 500 and Ethan in a 700. I'm not a big fan of wire crates as their bed crates. I know I like to have four walls around me when I'm sleeping.

| Lola sleeps in a wire crate, the large one 28" x 42". She wears jammies and the crate is completely covered with a large blanket. She stays toasty warm, actually I think she has the warmest "room" in the house. We heat with oil, so we keep the house pretty cool.

| Duke sleeps in his crate at night with his jammies on. DH has allowed him to sleep with us in our room once, and he was good the entire time. Last night was the second time (and might be the last time), and he was sent to his crate to sleep at 2:30 AM because he was getting too hot, too cold, moving around, keeping us up.
I REALLY want to buy him another bed to put in the crate, but we've learned that lesson twice already.

| Bentley sleeps in a large crate in our kitchen, which is just off our bedroom. I buy inexpensive blankets from thrift stores and put one or two in his crate. I have tried beds and crate liners but he shreds them. They're not worth the money when he shreds them to bits. Or accidently scratches a hole in it and de-stuffs it. |

| Last night I made some adjustments to her accommodations based on your tips and advice and not peep out of her all night Yay! I do have jammies on order for her for x-mas. I'm sure that will help and think she will like them since she is happy to wear her coats and her sweater.

| Aww, look at her using the blankie like people.
Murphy sleeps in a wire crate in the living room, I just can't let him sleep in the bedroom let alone on the bed - I know, I'm a monster. He has a big blankie on top and a smaller one inside (no pillow just yet, he's shown no signs of goat but I'd rather not tempt it to emerge).
We usually keep our house a little warmer then most, so I can't see him being all that uncomfortable. |

| Eli sleeps on a dog bed next to me, on my side of the bed. He is crated trained but that was only for housebreaking. I like the vari kennels, I think they add a sense of security, don't know why I think that I guess I'm used to that. I have the 6 month old puppy in the vari kennel right now, until he is room ready meaning he will go to sleep without pestering Eli to play at 11:00pm. LOL. When it is really cold I put Eli's jammies on that Bean made for him. He likes them. My bedroom gets very cold because we like to sleep with a window cracked and we turn the heat off at night. |
