Both Spock & Eva have been busy over the last six Saturdays completing the Basic Obedience Course! Eva was required to take course as part of HADR adoption contract. We enrolled Spock in same class, only because the training facility had large, gymnasium size, training rooms. This allowed us to position Spock and Eva on opposite sides during training sessions to eliminate interaction or distraction between them.
Both Spock & Eva were very good at obedience and great representatives for the breed. (The instructors wanted to dog-nap both of them!) There were nine other large dogs in class including Labs, GSD and poodles. Thankfully, a disruptive pug which showed up the first week dropped (or was kicked?) out early. Just having our dogs being calm and focused on the training exercises in a room full of other large dogs was a great experience in itself. We didn't take many photos during training as we were concentrating on keeping the kids in line. They shared a box of Chicken McNuggets after graduation for a special treat!

Eva, the Dober Nurse- I'm sure other Dobie pairs do this, but I thought it was so cute when I first saw it... When Spock gets a boo-boo on his body where he can't reach it, Eva will lick and preen it (nippy action) daily until it heals! She and Spock can detect (smell?) when us humans have cuts or wounds as well and will lick them- amazing!

Cold Weather Finally!- We had our first "cold" (48F) day in San Antonio this last weekend, so Spock and Eva got to wear their coats outside in backyard for playtime with one of the favorites outside toys- a deflated soccer ball.
