| My New Dobergirl Hey everyone I'm new here on DT and very excited to be getting my new pup on November 24. I decided on this breed because when I first started dating my wife about 5 years ago I fell in love with herDoberman . When we got married about 2 years ago I tried to convince her to get one and I annoyed her so much the past 2 years she finally caved in . We're getting her from a breeder and decided her name would be VENUS .Any advice for on what to do when bringing her home to ease the stress ? I'm very excited .. - bag of puppy food (same as what our breeder was feeding then)

- collar & leash w/ flashy name tag

- crate
- PAPER TOWELS!!!! And a floor cleaner (we really like Nature's Miracle)
- treats for training
If your breeder has the ears cropped, then they should help you on how to post/what they use for posting Also you need to make sure the puppy's ears are done healing fully from the crop before you post. We didn't start posting our boy until a couple weeks from when we got him.
Good luck!! |

| I hate to be Debbie Downer here, but the Montreal area has some terrible puppy mills and some lousy Doberman breeders. There are some good ones in Quebec as well, but one really has to be careful. You've got one that is constantly breeding albino factored Dobermans there, and definitely needs to be avoided.

The albino producing breeder is strikefire and there website looks horrible. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

OP, Hi, and welcome to DT.
Any list you have in mind should start, first and foremost with: Did I have all the information I needed, prior to choosing my breeder, to help me select a quality pet puppy that has a good chance of avoiding many of the health and temperament problems that often crop up in this breed?
And, in addition, and on that list as well, should be: Did I have all the information I needed in order to choose to be an ethical consumer and support with my purchase dollars a breeder who is doing things right, humanely, knowledgeably, and with the best interests of the individual animals in their care, and the breed as a whole?
There are sooooo many on here, who say they wish they'd found this forum first, and how they'd have done a lot differently, had they only known.
Hey, pick their brains, and benefit from their experience, no need to take the hard knocks yourself when somebody's already walked that mile, right?
Your 'Venus" puppy will still be out there--she just may not be the one pup you have in mind right at the moment, and that may be for the best.

| Viviens is definitely way better than Strikerfire, but at the same time, Viviens breeds A LOT.
