| Welcome! Love the pictures of your cozy family
Dobes are often bad leash-walkers. It is the one thing that we still struggle with after adopting our girl a year ago.
Obedience classes are a wonderful idea, you'll probably find she's the smartest one in the class
Can't chime in on the breeder thing, hope you get all the answers you need. |

| She has a very sweet face. I can't believe someone would dump a dog at a shelter the next day after a death. Gross. I'm so happy she found you! Thank you for taking her in and showing her the love she deserves and that I'm sure her prior owner would want for her. Dobermans can push their limits a lot, so another obedience class and lots of practice will help her remember what those limits are.
Keep us updated please! |

| What dear souls you both are taking care of this girl.
I hope you'll let the breeder know where she is and certainly let the breeder know what sort of evil vile creature would dump a friend's dog off @ a shelter- so maybe even if she felt possessed to do so in the future, she would have a hard time getting a doberman.
What a horrendously despicable thing to do, dump a deceased friend's dog off at a shelter. Things like that are why some have their dogs PTS in the event oftheir death before their pets, because of crap like this.
Ugh, anyway vibes to you and your boyfriend for doing right by this girl and hope everthing turns out well. |

| J happens to have two of those pads - she LOVES them. She has a 30x40 in her crate, and the XL one for her playpen. Sometimes I have to drag her off/out of them just to get her outside!
I think what you've done is a good thing, but like others said, should've contacted the breeder before spaying. I don't know anything about that breeder myself.

| Hi and welcome. Looks like you guys have big hearts, and squarely in the right place! Lucky Bonnie. We had a neighbor for many years who was a well-known Dachshund breeder/shower, and she always had a female Dobe as a pet - they all got along famously. Her last Dobe was a very large female named Gussie (Augusta), who was von Willebrand's positive, but it didn't stop her from having a splendid life. However, when Joan was in her terminal stages of cancer, and on hospice, her "best friend" and long-time handler made a unilateral decision to have Gussie PTS, because she was "īn the way"... Gussie was 15 1/2 years old - pretty unheard of for Dobes these days - and arthritic, but still totally mobile, with all her faculties, and all she wanted to do was lay next to her momma's bedside and sleep. The handler made MANY enemies that day! Here's hoping Bonnie has a long and pampered life!!

I guess I'll have to make a will and leave money for a trusted person to take whatever dogs I have at the time. The only upside to this story, is that Gussie was waiting at the bridge for her owner....and they were only without each other for a short time.

| | Lil Pup | I am a lurker, but just had to post when I saw you were looking at that Orvis bed! (Congrats on your new dobie, by the way - I love when dog stories work out in the end and it looks like she has such a great new family with you!).
Okay - NOBODY ORDER THAT ORVIS BED! I ordered two of them and the photo in the listing is VERY misleading. The bed does not come with a high bolster but rather a flimsy pillow. Seriously, a folded up blanket would offer more cushioning. They had to have had at least 10 of those pillows stacked up to get it to look as high as it does in the photo.
And the high back and side are barely filled with anything so they just collapse under any weight.
For what it's worth, I also ordered one of their cat beds and it too, was radically different (worse) than pictured. The beds I received from Orvis are Wal-Mart quality beds at BEST.
I contacted Orvis customer service and I'm working on a refund. For the price of that bed I was so disappointed. It looked so promising! Wish a bed like that actually existed. |

| Looking for Bonnie's New Owner Hi - This is Sabrina Moore - the breeder of Bonnie. I just saw these messages and I'm shocked at what has happened to Bonnie! But so grateful to the person that took her in. I'm desperately trying to get in touch with Bonnie's new owner. Anybody have any ideas? I've sent her a private message on this list. I had no idea that her owner had died.......we had just exchanged emails late in 2012. Any help would be appreciated so that I can make a connection with Bonnie's new owner. |

Hopefully she will check back and see your PM. Fortunately for Bonnie it looks like she landed in a good place.
