| Please help... any more suggestions?? We are in the middle of hurricane Sandy and we heard a noise in the front of our house, my husband opened the front door to check it out and both of my dogs bolted out the door! We have found one of them but Zeus is still missing. We both have looked now for 5 hours around the neighborhood and in town and even brought our other dog to try and lure him. I have contacted local vet offices, animal shelters, rescue groups, spca, local news, local police, local radio stations, I have also posted on the sandy lost pets site and posted all over facebook (It may sound over board but I'm so upset I am willing to post anywhere). I know they mean well but, people keep saying they see him and unfortunately it turned out to be a rottweiler. I am so worried for him. It's enough to lose your dog but in a storm is heart wrenching I won't be able to sleep tonight. I have had local strangers see my post on face book and went out in this storm looking also (so many strangers have shown such kindness) If anyone has any other ideas please let me know! |

| Thank you, he has never done this...he hates rain and I don't know if he just panicked due to the storm. |

| OMG. I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm sending positive vibes your way!. Just keep near a phone in case someone spotted him. Try looking in places that he's familiar with that he may go to if he gets stressed. Or neighbours he's familiar with. I really hope you find him soon. |

| How distressing--I wish I did have something to tell you to try.
Maybe he just holed up somewhere to stay out of the bad weather and will come trotting back when the sun comes out tomorrow. I certainly hope so--our thoughts will be with you.

| I can't imagine how you must feel right now. Have you lived there long? Do you think he knows the area well? I agree with MeadowCat...I think he would be trying to stay warm and dry somewhere.

| I have lived here for three years so he would know his way home but with this storm I worry he panicked and ran far I hope that isn't the case. I am exhausted and can't see much in this storm I am thinking he is hiding and in no way will be coming out right now, since he absolutely hates rain... |

| I agree with above, try looking under decks, porches, cars, he is probably scared and trying to hide!

| It will be ok. My mother-in-laws chow/husky bolted July 4th during fireworks, leash and all. We were out until 2 am looking for him. No luck. When she woke up that morning, there he was on the back porch, dirty and tired, waiting to be let in.
If he knows home, he'll be ok. Either he'll be waiting by your door to get inside or someone else's.
Prayers your way. He'll be ok. |

| I hope he had tags on when he got out, then if someone finds him hiding or if he begs his way in to someone elses house they will know where to take him once things calm down. It is so hard when a dog gets out, my lab used to escape the yard all the time and go on adventures. I always made sure to keep a collar and tags on him.
I am praying for his safe return.

| Did he have all of his identification stuff on him? I'm praying for you! Loosing a dog would be the worst thing that could happen. I get anxiety just thinking about it. We once lost our golden for hours, over 24 if I remember correctly. He finally came home covered in mud - apparently he went to the river to go and play. I don't think I could stop searching if my pup was lost. Do you have a treat word you use? Shake a box of treats that your pup loves while walking? Take the car and drive - but be safe out in this mess!
Please keep us posted! |

| Thankfully he had tags and microchipped he was found this morning unfortunately he wasn't alive...he got too close to a river and was swept away and drowned. My heart is so broken right now, I can't even breathe it seems. Please keep me in your prayers as I mourn this devastating loss. Thank you all for all your help... |
