Cool Unique Doberman Names

OK so there's a thread out there about the most popular doberman names. So how about telling us about the name you chose for your doberman that is unique and different rather than popular. I know we have some terrific names out there.

Tracy, Drago, Sierra, and coming soon Mariah

My bf insisted on naming our Dobie Sir Ellsworth Bumpy Johnson after a gangster....I kid you not. I hated it but now I love calling him Bumpy or Ellsworth when he does something super cute (which is always).

Rush was named after a 70's rock n roll band, Mahogany Rush. I'd been saving the name for awhile, because it seemed like such a good name for a red male show dog..he kept it even though it was discovered he wasn't going to be able to bring two testicles into the ring.

At the time I got Murrey, all of the bitches I had were given the name of famous human bitches-we had a Maddie (Hayes, from that tv show, Moonlighting), an Alexis (Carrington), etc. So Murrey's name started out as Murphy Brown.

Then her breeder started giving me a hard time, she thought we should use Marian as a call name (registered name being Heleva's Marian of Dubois). I thought Marian was an AWFUL call name, and didn't appreciate anyone telling me what I should call my dog..so Murphy got corrupted into Murrey. It started as a joke, just to be obnoxious, but the name FIT her. LOL, I told her breeder that the dog had told me she was a little jewish doberman.

Razzle got her call name from her handler/co breeders wife..who started calling her Razzle Dazzle before I even bought her. We tried a few other names, but this one stuck, again, it fit her. Finding a registered name was more of a challenge, since it had to be sports related and I'm not too into sports. So we cheated a bit, using the famous "who's on first" comedy routine, which was about baseball.

Lexxington got his name because I wanted something both regal with pride and quick to shorten for training ( Lexx). Originally I was considering Lexus, but it seemed popular and my boyfriend hates imported cars so he wasn't a fan. My friends went down to kentucky for the Rolex ( 3 day event) and suddenly Lexxington was chosen as his name. With 2 X's for kicks.

The next dog that I get (male or female) will be called Pitou (P-2) - I like the sound of it for a call name .......it is not a very common name here or abroad from what I can see. I'm "borrowing it" from a beautiful KNPV PH1 (440 pts) dog that I had the pleasure to decoy for....he knocked me on my butt more then a few times, then tagged off to a leg dog who finished me off - He was a wonderful loving and playful dog off the field though

I wanted a name for our boy that I could call him using the name's initials. We opted for Garlic city Jack Daniels.

Garlic City as we live in Gilroy (the so called garlic capital of the world) and Jack Daniels as he reminded me of the black label and brown color of this whiskey. He needed Jack Daniels as he was so very active! We called him JD. When he was cremated, the gentleman who engraved the plate for his box made it look like the Jack Daniels label.

P2? I hope its not a rottie then, lol! Its unique I'll give you that, just cant picture it on a rottie, male or female. Actually if you get another rottie I'll probably want it more, so go ahead and name it that might be a good deterrant for me! hope you know im just kidding around, im gonna hassle Tracy later about her new dobers name too....

I think Strike/Striker is a pretty unique name. We didnt give it to him the shelter did but now I love it. Lestat will forever be very special to me. The dog and the name, the dober I fell in love with. Its a very unique and cool name. I've chosen an L name for my boy in honor of him.

I wanted to name Apollo Chaos, but my son wanted Apollo after Rocky's Apollo Creed (he's too young to have seen Magnum PI). We chose Ares (God of War) as we hadn't heard it overused but everyone thinks its spelt Aries anyways.

My last Doberman was Zulu which I never ran across.

My brother named one of his Golden Retreivers Taz which I always liked.

Isn't there someone on here with a Dobie called Kitten? I think that's pretty cool .
I called Zac Darth at first, as in Star Wars because I'm a big fan, but he was already two when I got him and was worried about confusing him as he'd had a traumatic time anyway, so I reverted to the name he already had, Zaccy the Wonderdog. No idea how the original owners came up with that one though.

My first male dobe will be Lincoln. My next dobe will probably be Zephyr
I don't drive a Lincoln, but Nissan names just don't seem to fit!

I love unique names, I have some for my chins: Imriel, Phédre, Divinia, Carmella, Noire, Que, Symphony, Thora-Jane, Heliosa and Ellie-Aphrodite. All of my dogs are pretty dull!

Well, since my guy was a rescue and his age was approximate. I gave him a 12/24/02 B-Day. His name was Ryan and Reilly at the rescue (poor guy had 2 names in 1 week) I decided I wanted to give him a German name. Since he looked like a red nosed reindeer when I got him.....Rudolph he was named and Rudi for short. Mr. Rudi when he is feeling extra special.

(He is also aka...Rudi Johnson #32 for the Cincinnati Bengals. That's why I chose to end the name with an I.....not a Y (fyi-scoob) )

I know...whatever!

I now can haz a sister?

If you are not fully health testing and titling your Dobermans, I'm not buying. I'm not a sucker for a greeder, back yard breeder or puppy miller. I've done my research......have you???

My first Dobe, a black/tan, (I was like 4yr old waay back then) was three when we got him. His name was Chancelor. I don't know his registered name but I always loved that name. We called him Chance for short sometimes. Someday I'm going to use that name again.

After Chancelor, I wanted a puppy and adopted a Dobe/Whippet mix from the AZ humane society. I was actually looking for a Dalmation but fell in love with Domino -- named because she had a small white patch on her chest.

Checkers was next -- a chocolate lab mix. He kinda looked like the two-tone checker board.

And now Brando. His name was actually Bravado but I didn't care for that. I threw around a lot of names (some of which are on my list for my next Dobe) but really liked Brando and it fits him.

Names next to use are:
- Cannon
- Guiness
- Ruger
- Chancelor
- Diesel

Now, since I plan on getting a female next, I really need to pick out some female names. I had the same problem picking out names for my kids -- a page and a half of boys names, only two on the list for girls. sigh.

I have an Asher and Harmony. I think that is pretty unique. I used to have a Standard named Mage short for Magestic Gem and everyone thought his name was Mange so my vet started calling him Major so people wouldn't get confused at the office. Unique names are not always good.

I have one unique name Ziris. Z was from the "Z" litter, so Naturally her name starts with Z. Iris was Elly's dobermans name who passed away shortly before Ziris was born. "Iris Lindsey" was from the same breeder that Ziris is from.

So......Z + Iris = Ziris!

I have a Wonder. His breeder wanted a nursery rhyme litter and I wasn't about to call my big boy "hickory dickory doc." I chose the nursery rhyme "Little Robin Redbreast." Wonder comes from the Boy Wonder in Batman and ROBIN. I know, a bit of a stretch, but Wonder fits him!

Apollo and Molly came with their names and they were old enough when we got them not to change them - especially Pollo. Molly fit her tho - especially when we call her Mad Eye Molly (after Mad eye Moddy in Harry Potter books) I'll post a pic tonight, with her skull fracture and her ear pulling one eye back, she gets a crazy-a$$ look when she is really focusing.

my first dobe was Cody, after the town in Wyoming. I am thinking about Blitz for my next doberboy's name.

my most recent favorite dog name was one my neice came up with, she got a chocolate lab and named him Chip - as in chocolate chip. I think it's perfect.

His sister was Wish - Can. Ch. Glengate's Wishful Thinking CD, CGC. Personally, I thought Wish was a beautiful name. Obviously, I was in a pretty wistful state of mind when naming them. I thought they were cute names together for a brother and a sister.

One of my new puppies is named Royal. I think it's fairly unique. Although as soon as I chose it, another breeder informed me about 2 siblings she knew way back when named Royal and Regal - I think she said they belonged to the Ringstroms.

One of the puppies in my new litter was named Rockit by her owner because in her opinion, she "rocks it". LOL

Some of my dogs have had fairly unique names and some have been entirely mundane. My first dogs was call named Marc (Mars was part of his registered name) and for no particularly good reason if he was being particularly good he got called Marcus Aurelius (Roman philosopher).

The dogs I have now all had registered names from their breeder and she call named them before I had a change (I think she was afraid I'd do what I'd done to another breeder friend--I was growing up a puppy who I called Cat--it gave her nightmares so all of them came with call names as well.

Ch Foxfire's Shoot The Moon CD OA AJX RA CGC ROM is Colt to me and his friends. Ch Foxfire's Ain't That The Truth CD NA NAJ RE CGC ROM is Rumor and the Toad, my fawn guy is Foxfire's Gold Toed Monster RN--his registered name is a play on the name of a pretty well known fawn dog bred by Kygur kennels--Ch Kygur's Gold Toed Dragon. I figure I've probably got the ONLY Doberman ever call named the Toad.
