| Naked inside, collared/tagged outside. A friend's dogs were inside with collars on and playing. One dog's jaw got stuck in the other dog's collar - they flailed around frantically, which resulted in one dog's collar acting like a tourniquet, nearly killing him. My friend was home, luckily, and grabbed scissors to get that collar off. I've been freaked out about that happening to my crew ever since. |

| Both of mine wore collars 24/7 until I just realized how scary it was when they played outside! Perrin is a collar grabber and the way they wrestle/jump/run when they play - I was terrified that he would get his jaw caught and break it.
They have only been in my home for about 3 weeks now and still haven't completely mastered the idea of "play is for outside" so I leave Cricket's collar off pretty much all of the time (unless we are outside or training). Also, since Perrin was a collar grabber - he would often "lead her" around the house with his teeth... he has almost destroyed her brand new collar!
I leave his collar on because he hasn't mastered "come" yet and is much more rambunctious than she is! Easier to teach him "off" when he jumps where he isn't supposed to.
Both dogs are chipped and I have a 6-foot privacy fence with padlocks on the gates. I don't worry too much about them "escaping" but they also are rarely left unsupervised when outside (unless for a few minutes).

| Always collared and tagged. They're also both chipped. Occasionally I let them go naked at night when they're curled up in their bed. |

| | Lil Pup | Ours are always naked when they're home/in our fenced-in backyard. We always put a collar with tags on if we're leaving the house - and, of course, they're microchipped! |

| | Alpha | Mine wear break away tag collars all the time. They have id on at all times, but if they get into a situation where they might strangle, their own strength will pull the collar apart and free them from harm/chocking.
I use an additional collar when walking |

| The dogs don't have chips except for Titan, so they are collared and tagged at all times. There are two doordashers, so it's a necessity until they are taught restraint. Relatives with unchipped dogs don't want to due to rumors of the chips causing cancer, so.
Future dogs including doberman will be chipped and collared at all times. Too much can happen in an instant and around here people at least try to care about a dog with a collar. Dogs and cats without collars get run down on the road and then left to die... when I lived next to a highway my family would peel several cats and a couple dogs off the road each year... one of the reasons my animals don't go offleash without a good fence.

| I now keep my dogs tags on a keyring that attaches to the collar he is currently wearing, so I can change collars without having to "stack them" and still have his identification, etc., on the current collar. I use multiple collars and a harness now which all depend on where we are going, so keeping his tags on at all times was getting to be a PITA.
I still like to have a collar on in the house in case he does get into a fluke accident and needs his identification. He is not micro-chipped yet, unfortunately. And I mostly use a martingale. Haven't had any issues with it, and it's much easier to hold him when he gets finicky, than when I used to use a flat buckle.

| If they are in the house no collars, if they are outside whether it be the backyard, car anywhere outside the house they have collars on. I do not chance anything outside the house, there is always someone home so in case of an emergency there is a plan of some slrt |

| It is strange. My previous Dobie, Rex was never in a collar and obviously had no identification than his micro chip. But he was older and I trusted he would not get out of the yard.
My new puppy is a different story. I can see their personalities are completely different. Axel s very confident and outgoing hence, I have him in collar with ID tag at all times.
His tag has his name and both my wife's and my phone numbers. He is also micro chipped.
I have not experienced the choking issue, and I hope I never do. I would be devastated if Axel escaped the yard and no-one could call me to tell me.
A few months ago I was walking in our area and a dog approached me. He befriended me and followed me. I noticed his collar and tag and contacted his owner who was unaware he had escaped the yard. The owner was grateful and came quickly to pick up the dog. |

| Same here. If they are in the house or yard, uncollared as I am in the yard with them ALWAYS. If we go for a walk or out somewhere, always collared and tagged. Once reason I don't collar them in the yard is one day during rough play one dobe got his mouth stuck in the collar of the other, thus freaking them both out. |

| Red *always* has his collar on, which has a full ring of tags including ID, rabies, microchip, etc. The only time I ever take it off is at night before bed, then it goes right back on in the morning before he goes out for the first time.
The only exception to this rule is if we are up north on the lake. Then the collar stays in the cabin since his old collar got lost in the lake somewhere and I'm not keen to risk losing his $100 paco collar in the lake lol

Collared and tagged at all times. I figure it could save Lasker's life one day. He hasn't been neutered and well..should he ever get the scent of a bitch in heat, I refer the good reader to my second sentence. |

| Nexus wears her collar all the time, Bella only when we go out. I have lived through the nightmare of dogs getting tangled in collars when playing in the back yard and it scared the hell out of me. They were running around playing and I was on the patio, I had my back turned and I heard a horrendous yelp and dogs screaming. Nexus had her bottom jaw twisted in Bella's collar and both were fighting to get loose. Nexus will go for Bella's collar first thing every time she is wearing it and they wrestle. Bella doesnt bother Nexus's collar much at all, and Nexus needs to be on a long line to let her know I can and will make her come to me when I want her. I sometimes worry about them getting out if one of the kids doesnt pay attention at the gate, however, for the most part everyone in the house is very good with watching to make sure neither get out. Nexus also gave us a scare when she got loose one time, going from truck to yard, and ran down to the main road and plopped her dumb ass right in the middle of the road. Thankfully it was light traffic and the cars stopped so we could get her. Needless to say Nexus is a challenge to raise lol.

Sent from my iPad using PG Free | The problem with that is "What if you move, and your phone number changes?" My dogs are tattooed with my SSN.
And by the way, actually on his sheath, or on his inner thigh? Mine are done on the inner thigh.

| Our singlet boy has his collar with tags on at all times. He is microchipped as well. With three boys in and out often, I like to be prepared in case he were ever to bolt out the front door and since he is the only dog in the house, I feel it's pretty safe. |

| his "everyday" collar stays on at all times, and is loose enough that he can back out of it if he gets stuck. the cats have breakaways. everyone is chipped, as well, but that wouldn't matter much in my neighborhood. |

| Rouleaux is collared and tagged at all times! He has a slew of different collars, but I am one of those moms who HAS to transfer the i.d. information from one collar to the next.
In the event someone was to leave the gate unlocked- not that I believe he would wander far out of sight- If someone or animal control was to pick him up they could notify me immediately...
In the event some low life were to pick him up and attempt to keep him, or his collar was to be removed somehow, he is microchipped.
I love him too much to think about him not being able to find his way back or getting lost- especially on one of our hikes!

| Naked as the day she was born Skye does not wear a collar unless she is leaving the home. She lives on 10 acres of boundried wooded land and wears the ecollar in the yard, she knows not to leave, has great recall. She is microchipped and has a tag ID with my cell number on her travel collar. I don't like to have a collar on her full time as it wears her hair off her neck and being a blue, she doesn't have a thick coat.
Our other furkid is a setter/retriever mix and he wears his collar with the tag embedded on the collar all the time. He has tons of hair. He also wears an ecollar in the yard.
I had that same thing happen to my past Dobes of getting tangled up in their chain choke collars (just got back from a walk,, they never wear those collars any other time). It happened on a Holiday, so it was a $$ vet visit. Both dogs were OK, I did have to give one CPR, the one that was getting chocked by the other one that had his collar twisted around the jaw. Good thing I was in the yard when this happened. |

| If I find a dog running in the street it is so much easier to return to its home if the collar has contact details. Then again, the last dogs I picked up were a dobie and a french bulldog and if their tags had had contact details I would not have spent 2 hours with them and fallen in love with the dobie, and so I would also probably not be getting my own dobie in a month! (They were chipped, I found them at 5:30am and fortunately had to wait until 7:30am for the vet to open ) |
