I saw this on Facebook today. Have others seen it? Is this a legit story? It sounds just terrifying that your dog could be euthanized or taken from you because of such a small, seemingly non-aggressive incident. If she were a golden, she probably wouldn't be in this situation

Seems like the person who had his nose banged up should have stood up for the dog. But since he is the one who reported the incident to the police maybe the owners should take his deposition under oath.
Sure doesn't seem right. But, people are so negative if you have a Doberman.

I signed the petition but I think even what they are asking for (to be able to keep Heidi restricted to her home) seems very extreme considering the whole incident had nothing to do with any 'viciousness'. But keeping her at home is a helluva lot better than having her taken from them.

I don't think that this ISN'T true but of course as people send things across the internet things grow out of proportion. I tried to call what I THINK is the animal control doing this and couldn't get anyone on the phone. I also sent a request to the person starting the petition to please provide information such as scanned documents showing the offenses and punishments. If this really is life or death, hopefully they will provide shortly so we can really do a "call to arms" from the Dobe community.

I spoke to Heidi's owner today. The written law simply says "attack" by a dog, it doesn't specify a bite, therefore, the City Attorney is calling this a dog attack. Heidi was adopted out by the rescue I volunteer for, and the city has agreed that instead of being euthanized, Heidi can be returned to us. PLEASE STILL SIGN THE PETITION!! The family is hiring an attorney, and they are trying to keep Heidi. They love her very much. If they are unable to keep her, she will come back to us.

This was such an accident, the man bent down to pet her and she jumped up at the same time. There was NO aggression at all she was just happy about getting attention. This could easily happen to me, my girl has smacked me in the face a hundred times. Heidi was adopted almost 4 years ago, and she is the second dog this family has adopted from us. They are a wonderful home, they put a lot of time and training into their pups.

I cant count the number of times over the last 10 years that I have had a doberman in my home that I have had bloody noses, lips, tongue, bruised cheeks or eyes, not to mention bruises on my arms and legs from over enthusiastic dogs who just want some attention. And these are my OWN dogs, not to mention the ones I hve gotten from friends dogs for the same reason. I think the City of Royal Oak is over reacting in this as they tend to do in many other things, and it is a shame that this family has to suffer. I also think the guy making the report is an ass and needs to get a life or something. Hasnt he got better things to do than blame a poor defenseless, innocent dog for his own stupidity and carelessness?
