We finally got some snow here and Louise and Harvard had a great time playing today. Harvard had his bad cuz toy and pretty much played keep-away from his Momma the whole time.
Harvard says, "Come on Momma - try and take it!"
Louise will be 7 years old next month
It was sad to not have Velma out with them - weird to be down to just 2 dogs.
They are doing fine - I think still figuring out who needs to let me know when it is time to eat or that the water bowl is empty On the plus side for them, bones are now allowed in places other than their crates.
Lori Velma died suddenly on January 2nd - she was in great condition and was active up till the minute she just dropped dead. It was a very big shock, and we all really miss her. Velma and Louise really never got into it again after their big blow out fight 3 years ago - but I managed them carefully. No bones or toys laying around - they were never left alone together, and I always reinforced Louise's top dog slot. Velma actively avoided confrontation after that big fight.....which helped a lot!
I just love how gorgeous these dobes look in the snow, but especially yours! Wow, Harvard has such a gorgeous head and I love the intense look he has in the "try and take it" pic. Louise looks fabulous, like a young pup.
I am so sorry to hear about Velma, that had to be awful beyond words...and I'm sure still is.
Thanks for the condolences - this is a post from last January that got bumped. A year has passed, and I still really miss my Velma. We can never really replace one who died, but we can love another.... and I do. Jezebel is the one who stayed from my last litter. She is 10 months old now and nothing like Velma.... but I see glimpses of Velma in her personality. Jezebel is Velma's Great Great Niece
Doh! Usually I look at the dates, but I saw January and...guess I'm still stuck in 2012. Anyway, glad to hear your new girlie is helping heal your heart, but you're right...they always take a piece with them.
Great photos! It looks like they're having a good time and they are both stunning! My girl ******* LOVES the snow! It's started to melt here though. If she finds a patch of snow on a walk she has to go over to it though ha! At least she doesn't have to worry about the snowman threat lurking in the shadows for much longer!
As an aside, Louise looks amazing for being 7yrs old.
Great pics. Thanks for sharing.
