Custom Made Dobie Coats

Does anyone on this forum have any knowledge of the House of Hoytt Doberman Custom Made Coats? I have put off buying one as Em is still not mature, but I was curious if they are good coats. It is so hard to find clothing for the deep chested breeds that are functional and fit and still look good. I think their ads state the price at $65. and I don't think that is a bad price considering how they look in the ad: very form fitting and they remind me of a good horse blanket.

I wouldn't patronize them, even if the coat was free. Sorry...

there are many good coats for dobes- Fido Fleece fits awesome. Sam wears a size 26

I just had 2 coats and a snood made for my boy by Cozy Horse. They are wonderful and very reasonably priced.

I agree with sam&macksmom. I wouldn't even give HOH my business if they were giving stuff away.

Chilly Dogs makes nice coats - both my girls have one.

Chilly Dogs - Outdoor gear for Active Dogs - Dog Coats

You also might check out Cozy Coats; they make nice coats & jammies too. Both my girls have a couple pairs of jammies each.

Best ot get a cheap coat from Petsmart or Petco or even fleece sweats and cut off the sleeves & other parts thet need to be removed if a boy. Young dogs have a tendecy to eat coats, tear them up plus they are not done growing. That is what I did until Buddy was grown then he got two fleace coats and a winter coat + two snoods from cozy horse.

I wouldnt buy anything to support a breeder like that REGARDLESS of how good it was.
I got an adorable (well tacky but cute) pink camo zack and zoey coat for $5.

I had mine within 10 days from ordering. Biggest problem I have with 'over the counter' coats, is that W is very short backed. So, if it fits his back, it is not big enough to fit his chest. And.. if it fits in the chest, it is just way too long.

Claudia was wonderful to work with as well, and the coats are so well made!

Thanks Patches Mom for that advise. My dog isn't a year old and I've been agonizing over getting her a coat. I bought a kids thermal shirt and a kids sweatshirt so that helps for now.

Love Cozy Horse: http://www.angelfire.com/co4/cozyhorse/newmenupage.html

Excellent quality and excellent service. Baron has a rain slicker, fleece coat, and lined winter coat.

He also has jammies from Cozy Coats and More: Cozy Coats and More

This is more in line of what I am looking for. A long time ago, I used to get a catalog that had custom made horse/foal blankets and they added dog coats to their line. Don't know is this is the same place, but thanks for the web site.

I just bought this coat for Sabrina in black. Climate Changer? Fleece Dog Jacket

I also wanted something form fitting. I ordered a medium and it fits her perfect.

I find that the coats where you have to put their legs in is awkward, not to mention hard to take off in a hurry. I made both these coats with this McCalls pattern M4686. I used the medium size and it fits both my males (the large is a little longer and wider and ends at the tail). These are easy to make and I can't sew for kibble but I made one in less than a day. I used fleece material (anti pill is best). You can double it or get some quilted lining. Velcro will keep it in place and I used the 2" wide sew on type.
