When is the big move??

| | Alpha | Thanks guys. I'm moving back to Toronto in early Feb. I'll probably still need at least 2 years or maybe longer or maybe even never. I will see if I'm ready for this responsibility.
HK is just not suited for dog raising imo but I know that this part of the New World is definitely. There are lots of great breeders in North America but I will probably limit it to those in Ontario since I want to be close to my prospective breeder/mentor.

| Exciting news! I know you have been on the forum for a while now, doing lots of research and learning. Great to read that you are getting closer to having your own dobe - I am always happy to hear that prospective owners view it as a major responsibility! Some great offers from Lexxsmom, Okie Dobie and Khiera. Best of luck with the move. |

| | Alpha | update I'm so close I can almost smell the clean Canadian air, see the wide open spaces and finally not have to take a lift before going home. Packing is almost done, got some final things to tie up, maybe a quick trip to Macao, and Canada HERE I COME (early Feb)!
I am bringing my chinchilla and rabbit and can't believe that I went through all that stuff for the bunny. It's probably more intensive than the rest of the things I have to do for my return! Let's see, apply for an Import Permit, arranged for Quarantine inspection at my home, arranged for vet health certificate, arrange for government endorsement of said certificate, obtain approval from port vets, ensure in compliance with CITES, constant liaising with the relevant officials to make sure everything's in order, etc. I hope that fat bunny appreciates it LOL; the chinchilla, curiously enough, can just waltz into Canada w/o any papers. Go figure!

| That's quite a few hoops just to get a bunny into Canada.
You may be back just in time for winter. It hasn't quite arrived here yet.

| Well, you have some wonderful breeders in your area... and I think the idea of hanging out with some of the DT "family pets" it's so excellent! I think it'll probably cinch the deal for you! Do you already have a house in Toronto, and just have to settle back down, or is it all a flurry of newness?

| Awe, it's nice to see you would do all that for your bunny.....I had two pet rabbits when I first moved out and they are the best pet (if you can't have a dobe LOL).........of course, after the "incident" with my great dane and my stepson's bunny, well, we don't have small furry animals in our home anymore.............
Hope your move goes smoothly!

| Chinchillas aren't very regulated at this point, although I always have trouble getting across the border if I'm bringing several at once or something of the sort.
You won't be too far from me and the chillas! Congrats on the upcoming move! It's always nice to be a step closer to the Doberman dream, mine has been a long time coming and I still don't see an end!

how long will the little critters be in lock down? | Thanks for the link. Only the rabbit will be quarantined (in my family home, luckily) for 30 days. During such time and at the end, inspectors may come to spot visit to make sure that I remain in compliance. Quote:

Also grateful some DTers would like to meet up someday so that I can get more acquainted with the breed. I'm a returning Canadian so I don't anticipate being shell-shocked. Still, been away for too long and I'm sure that some things have changed. Will be staying at the family home for the time being until I find my own house. I guess only then will I even seriously start to consider a new (4-legged) addition to the family. Quote:

Seriously though, those rabbits can be quite passionate. Sometimes mine would come up to me and follow me like I would imagine a dog would. Definitely from affectionate than my chinchilla! That chin is a sneaky, clever little bugger, more cat-like in behavior, I would guess lol.
