| Things you let your dobe play with! What kinds of "homemade toys" do you let your dobe play with?
I will clean out a milk jug and Tank will chase that around the house all day!
and I was just wondering what other good Ideas I could get from everyone he gets bored with his toys quite fast I try rotating them but that does not work either and it gets a bit $$$$ to buy 2 or 3 toys every week or so! |

| Fiona wouldn't stop stealing towels out of laundry baskets, the bathroom, when the linen closet door was open for 2 seconds...so, I finally grabbed one really big towel and tied it up into a huge knot and let her have it. She loves that thing. She carries it allover the place and will stand on it with her front feet and try to rip it apart with her mouth. It's really sturdy and she still hasn't even managed to tear it in one spot yet. Although, it's still a strictly supervised "toy"; I can imagine if I turned my back for one second she'd find a way to eat half of it. It also works with blankets. My brother really liked the idea and tied a fleece throw blanket into a big knot for his mini schnauzer, who also loves it for some reason.

| We get old socks and knot them up and make them into a big sock ball for Lottie, don't let Libby have it as she would shred it though. Also have an old sweatshirt from my dad which we knotted up and gave to the dogs as a tug-o-war toy. |

| Knots tied in almost anything work for mine. I take old work jeans, cut the legs off tie an end, toss in a tennis ball and tie off the other end. Lasts a good long time and the two of them will tug with each other for hours.
Cardboard boxes at work are a hit as long as you don't mind the clean up later.

I even have to immediately put away 12 packs of soda or Fiona will grab hold and drag them around. It was really, really funny when she was little. Now it doesn't take so much effort on her part.

Don't all Dobies play piano? I thought they were born with the gift of music?

| I give Buddy a coconut he will carry it around then I break it open pour the milk in a bowl if they want to drink it.I take off the hard outside shell they eat the rest keeps them busy for a little while they seem to enjoy it a lot I do this maybe once a month.Lately some of the coconuts seem to be moldy looking I throw those away.Get dirty looks from the Fur Kids though. |

| Right now I don't give Si anything that's not a recognizable dog toy as I am trying to limit chewing and shredding of non-dog stuff.
But I did rip up a pair of old jeans and braid the strips for a tug toy. I like the idea of stuffing a tennis ball in a leg of jeans! |

| Toys?? what toys?? I dont know about your dobes but mine does not know what playing is...whatever i gave him to play with ended up in pieces...His understanding of "play" is to either tear up or shred into pieces..
His only surviving toy is a two inch thick floss rope with knots on it...
When he is on the mood, he runs around the yard with the rope in his mouth occasionally stopping to "shake it dead"...

| I keep a toy box full of orbee toys, kongs etc and they get bully sticks as well as raw bones. With supervision they get to play with tugs and balls on a rope. Tara is still in the learning process about what is hers and what is mine!!! Rex was very good from early puppyhood about not getting into things that were not his.

| I can't give mine water bottles or milk jugs she thinks they are food !!!!!! The plastic coffee containers are harder and have a great handle. She grabbed the first on I gave her with her nose inside, it covered her whole face, she couldn't see where she was going and ran into the fence. She is more careful now ! |

| bought my Dobie a chihuahua and a pomeranian, they are great for toys! They move around and everything. Chases them all day long. They've learned ganging up on him works rather well.
(yes, the 75% chihuahua/yorkie and pomeranian are enjoying themselves...)
