Have had a few PM's about my fence so here is more detail: 8' high. 4 runs of 24" galvanized metal you can get at any box store, framing with 2x4's and 6x6" posts. The coolest thing is how very bright it makes the yard versus wood fencing plus no peekaboo holes for inciting riots AND the whole place glows with a soft orange light when I have a fire in the fire circle!
I'm going to remove the railing on my porch and have low cantilevered seats built to save space and open up the view. The cantilevered benches will prevent falls and give the dogs a favorite spot to oversee their domain. I wish like heck I had before photos of the yard. It was a jungle which is my own favor trusting tenants to card about it! I worked off a lot of initial anger about the divorce hacking away at bamboo with picks, axe, and chainsaw. It's slowly taking shape with plants and things which are all from my old property, except for the gravel. That is another huge amount of work to dig up, transport, and replant but so worth it. Inch by inch.
I'm shipping him to you if he doesn't stop dumping the WHOLE dog water bucket trying to get in it and jumping in the shower with me only to jump out and run 16 pounds of wet cat all over with zoomies! He likes getting wet, such a weirdo! Ragdoll cats are the most awesome cats ever! And they "don't shed" as all the rumors go...check out that pile after two minutes of brushing.
So envious of your green thumb, we bought our house almost a year ago and I'm just praying their minimal but nice garden work will come back nicely without my help....because my help will kill it all. As much as I wish I did, I just don't have a green thumb
Question about the turf. I heard that turf is very hot. Living in Florida how do you think it will work in my backyard. No grass grows due to Dax being out there and we do not have soil only sand.
The fence is very unusual, but might your Border Collie scale it with the stepladder framing? I also wondered if there were any building codes in town against that type of construction? Many older towns have restrictions on renovations to homes designated "historic".
You implied you might have some neighbors with "backyard" dogs?
The garden area and paths are wonderful, I can picture Boon (and Aubie?) conducting "Zoomies" around the plants, gravel flying, occasionally knocking over a pot! Please post video of when that occurs... :grin2:
I would never invest crazy THOUSANDS of dollars without checking building codes!! Lol! We are in the process of adding an historic overlay that will reduce fence heights to 6' in backyards but I'll be grandfathered in. Front yards is 4' city wide. My neighbors love the privacy it affords them on one side.
I had to line the entire fence with wire on the bottom for Aubie but I can't imagine her scaling the vertical- if she faces it she can't haul herself up to the first level, have watched her try a number of times. The metal in between does not allow purchase like wire does and the "shelf" is too narrow so she smacks her face when she tries to do a little jump up. Cat can't do it either, falls down every time so he gets to go out sometimes. They have both quit trying long ago.
I don't think her Border Collie is going anywhere! Why would anyone want to leave that yard? Plus, Trish is not my next door neighbor. She minds her dogs!
And, no one better tell her to take the fence down!
Love that fence, you have given me great ideas. I have been trying to figure out what to do in my backyard because Dax runs around grass will not grow and living in Florida there is no soil only sand. I am liking the gravel idea.
Great fence we have one made with the metal hubby was a welder he put a cement curb down both sides of our back yard to the Cement wall behind us. He had the metal galvanized
he used the metal that is used in metal buildings 6 ft tall he put it down both sides one side is still perfect but the other side is messed up. The neighbors trees grew in to them really messed them up.
Great! Ozzie likes chilled tuna on ice with crushed sardine garnee. He's coming with extra vacuum cleaner bags. You're gonna need 'em. What brand? Oh, and his playtime is 2-4 AM so lock down anything a three year old could push off of a high surface if they could get up there. That's his other favorite pastime besides water activity. He was a demo expert in another life and really gets a thrill out of the big crashes of valuable stuff. He wants to know if his float will have a motor. He likes to go fast. He's not coming if it doesn't.
Regarding the kitty's motor float. (any Blake Shelton songs come to mind?)
My pool is cheap, cheap, cheap! However the, outflow from the filter is a constant rotisserie when sun bathing. Will that work?
