A Chuck story.

two nights ago Chuck barked off and on a coupe of times.

I thought it was probably a mouse in the live trap in my greenhouse as Chuck has been right about this a few times.

so, next morning I was going to check the trap but got busy doing something and forgot about it.

I had noticed Chuck standing by the greenhouse and said, yah, yah i'll be there soon.

forgot about it again.

about 10 minutes later I saw Chuck standing in the yard tossing a mouse about and thought wow, cool, he caught a mouse,

then I noticed the live trap laying in the yard.

Chuck had gone and opened the greenhouse door, grabbed the trap, taken it outside, opened it and caught the mouse.

he makes me smile.

sorry, no photos. hahaha

no, he does not eat mice.

he prefers canned goat, rice and beans.

my first Doberman Sadie won me over to this breed as she was an awesome problem solving dog, it is just one of the reasons I love these dogs.

so true.

we have special Chuck proof doors on the chicken house and feed shed.

I do have one for the greenhouse but it was not closed properly.

Whadda Smaaaht Doberguy, Chuck!

Here's my experience with, what I call "Reverse Dober Reasoning"
Lots of DT members recommend "High Value Treats" to train Dobes for good recall and/or fetch return. After using this technique on Spock, I found out it had unintended consequences...

Whenever I'm sitting down to consume MY "High Value Meal" (a.k.a. my dinner), Spock will go over to his toy box and get his favorite squeaky toy (usually JW Pet octopus). He then brings it to me, squeaks it several times (near my ear to make sure I hear it), then he drops it in my lap. Of course, he is just demonstrating what I taught him- Come Back to Daddy, Drop Off Toy = Get a Treat !! (in this case, my treat)
Beaumont67 and atomic like this.

Ten Doberman Rules
Poke Everything.
It's New? Bark At It.
Moves? Chase It.
Doesn't Move? Smell It.
Liquid? Spill and Dribble It.
Treat or Food? Wolf It Down.
Not Food? Chew It Slowly, Be Quiet & Hide From Human.
A Toy? Shred & Destroy It.
Stuffed? De-Stuff It.
Bites You Back? Wrestle It!
