The Kisser

I have 2 dobes...a 3 yr old female and 1.5 yr old male. My female is the more respectable one. Hardly licks me unless there are crumbs in my hand. Probably gives me a lick or two twice a year.

The boy...oh boy. Big kisser. And i really mean kissing at the lips. Seems like he is disinterested to lick toe licking, hand licking etc....very desperate to kiss every human being he meets on the lips. Tongue and all. If we are standing, he will jump up and aim for the lips. If we are sitting down, thats just easy prey. But he is not a sloppy kisser or anything. Just a biiiig slurp or double slurp...then he is happy bouncing off doing his own thing. Bitter sweet. Sweet as its kinda cute. Bitter after he ate his raw, licked his balls or drank from the toilet bowl.

Just wondering if you have any avid kissers as well. Just sharing for fun.

i have a lickaholic. she doesn't discriminate against the rest of the face, but she does seem to target ears and mouth.

I am the sea witch. I am the tide you fear and the turning you can't deny. I am the sound of the waves running over your bones on the beach, little man, and I am not amused at finding you on my doorstep.

My first had a (warped) sense of humor about it, I think. He would ZOOM up to people, do a flying bounce and "face lick" in the air (without actually touching them) as he circled them and then ZOOM off.

He always seemed to pick people who looked a little uncertain about whether he was friendly.

I had a lickaholic - former Amy, at bedtime.
- when she knew mom was going to bed, she would lay on her back (on leather love seat)
She was asking for:
a) belly rubs
b) night kissy

Amy would wait on couch, for Dad to go to bed later / when it was bed time:
She would again, roll on her back & expose her soft belly:
a) belly rubs soon turned into me giving sweet Amy several belly blows of air
b) and night kisses on the lips, until I determined I had enough
Showing human affection to her human family, Amy sure did like the attention.

When Amy was 10 weeks old, I carried her into a store over my shoulder.
- soon the clerks were asking to hold her, so I passed her to a young lady
- immediately, Amy went to kissing, an open mouth
- and store full of customers, people laughed their head off
- she said, "dog just stuck its tongued, down my mouth...yuck" !!
- I said, "now you know how to French Kiss"

------------Kelly & (Amy - RIP @ 11.7 y/o)

My dobe will lick, but not excessively. My papillon who is the male... is such a licker to the point where I think it may be an obsession!

Yep, we've all had our teeth/lips/roof of our mouth licked by Darcy. Gross. She loves to bounce, face height, while waiting for the tennis ball, and if your mouth is open at the wrong moment... dog snog! Urgh!

Kira is the only dobe I've had who is overly kissy. Thankfully she's learned when and when it's not allowed.

Brinks is not overly kissy, when we are laying down together he will at times slowly lick my hand but let his tongue "stick" and just keep it halfway out still stuck to my skin. Also when he wants to wake me up he will poke at and lick my face. Sometimes he will give me kisses just to be sweet but he is not an invasive kisser hehe

Baron is the only we have had that is not a kisser. He will never kiss anyone but hubby and I and then that is only rarely. He will come up and give a nose poke but no tongue!

My boy Red likes to stick his nose riiiiiiiiiiiight next to my face. Just enough so my cheek gets wet, but not so much that I actually feel any pressure. It's adorable. He only does it to me, nobody else. Chief isn't happy unless he's licked you sometime in the last hour. Hands and face are the preferred. At 90 pounds, our friends can get pretty surprised when he trots up and licks them in the mouth! We've tried to train him away from it, but he Does. Not. Care. It's gross but very sweet.

Mabel will kiss you straight on the mouth as soon as you give her the idea (intentionally or unintentionally) that you are ok with it. We had to teach her the command "no kissin". It's worked but she pouts every time I say it haha. She now focuses far more on the crotch region. Almost every person she meets she goes right up to their crotch and gives a firm poke and uplift haha. Very unsettling for people if we forget to warn them. Once she did it to a woman in line behind us at a coffee shop because Mabel thought she stood too close to us.

My Jax is not much of a kisser. More of a nose-tapper. He will come up to you and tap you with his nose. When he wants to tap the face of people that don't know him, it's a bit intimidating. Now, our lab/golden mix can't hold her licker! She's the kisser.

A good wife, a good horse, a good
dog. That's all a man needs and I'm thankful to have all three.
