I had been feeding Dax Orijin for some time and sometimes pieces of apple. I then started to incorporate Organic Coconut Oil and Sardines. Her poo would range from solid, loose, runny and pudding. So I began to eliminate things from her diet. First to go was the apple. Noticed some changes in poo however not consistent firm. When feeding fruit Dax tends to have looser stool. Then stopped the coconut oil again more firm nothing consistent. I then slowly switched to Fromm Al Veg and kept the sardines. I was feeding half a can 2X week of sardines. Poop began to change on a consistent basis. Her poo before was always brown to light brown. Now it is dark and firm. It has been this way for a couple of weeks.

I think I am on to the correct food for Dax. All my other dobies were fed Orijin however it has not been the best food for Dax. You have to become a poo observer along with reading "Dog Food Logic" helped. Thanks DT where one can always talk about poo and people will always understand :)

Yes, we all understand poop talk! I switched Baron from Acana Pacifica to Fromm Salamon and Tunalini last summer because for some unknown reason, he started being picky about the Acana. Have to stick with fish protein because of his heart and also he does not do well on chicken. Anyway, I actually think his poops are better on the Fromm. His poops on the Acana were OK but sometimes we would get a run of not so solid. Anyway, hope you get Dax on the right track!

Richter also eats Fromm Chicken a la Veg, and I also highly, highly recommend "Dog Food Logic." Great book!

I always say there's no one BEST food...it's the best food FOR YOUR DOG. Glad Dax is on the right track!

McCoy is on Orijen now. I do notice that sometimes his stools might become a little looser than I would prefer. I add a tablespoon or so of pure organic pureed pumpkin per feeding and they generally firm right back up.

Honestly, I don't think it is the kibble that occasionally results in looser poops. I think it is all the other stuff I add at random. Organic yogurt, eggs, pureed apples, low fat cottage cheese, frozen veggies and raw or cooked meat/fish, some table scraps, etc.

Regardless, Its never really been an issue. Just me being "anal". LOL

Sheriff is on a prescription senior diet. Perfect...
