| | Big Pup | Lady is blind in her right eye Well it's been confirmed by the vet that Lady has lost the vision in her right eye due to the eye infection. I truly wish we had discovered her sooner and meybe there would have been more hope. Honestly I think she's been like that for a while considering she is well adjusted without that eye. I'm planning on trying to find a specialist in hopes that we can continue to improve the condition of the eye without having to remove it. I'm still diligent in adminstering the terrmyacin, and hopefully we can clear up the remaining infection. My poor Lady Bug, if only she had someone to take good care of her a long time ago!
On a lighter note Lady is turning into mommies angel! I really enjoy having her here, I love the way she just comes right up and lays her head on my neck. We snuggle on the couch, and she keeps me warm...lol. Since I've been constantly takeing care of her eye and cleaning it out, she has started to lick my eyes now lol. I never thought I would find so much love in a dog, especially a Doberman...makes me want to stand on a roof and scream out that people are wrong about them. My DH learned his lesson the other night when he decided to tickle me lol, Lady kept trying to jump on him (playfully) and he would push her away and tickle me again, she finally went behind him and bit him right on the butt lol, when I play with the girls, we usually run around the house playing tickle tag, and I'll catch one of them pick them up and throw them down onto the bed, all the while Lady is trying to help them get away from me. She's like having a third child lol. |

| Awww, sorry to hear about Lady's eye. I had a one eyed G.S.D. and he got along just fine.
I am also finding the Doberman a wonderful breed, so much character! |

| | Banned | That's the secret about Dobermans. I was terrified of them until I met someone who had them and got to know her dogs. They have a deeper bond with their humans than any breed I've seen.

| Sad news about Lady but I'm sure that she will cope just fine because she has you and your family to look after her now.Now you have been captured by a dobie your life will never be complete without one,and i would like to bet that when your kids grow up and leave home in the future they will carry the doberman addiction with them!!but this is one addiction that is a blessing

| | Alpha | Sorry to hear about Lady's eye. Hopefully the meds will at least keep you from having to remove it.
Dobe's are great companions, they bond in such a way that surpasses any other kind of dog I have had. |

| | Big Pup | I always assumed that Dobermans would be an off standish breed, but they most certainly are NOT. The bond that Lady has formed with us is just amazing. I will definatly have a Doberman in my home for the rest of my life lol. Both of my girls are close to Lady, but Morgan my oldest doesn't have the connection to Lady the way my youngest does; mainly because Morgan was bitten in the face by a Chow when she was 2. Makenzie, who will be 2 in November just loves Lady, she likes to lay on the couch with her and rub her belly lol. They watch Dora together in the mornings. Ever since my best friend acquired her Dobi I have been infactuated with them, I would always joke that we should clone her dobie so I could have one.....luckily an angel sent Lady to me. |

| Oh I am so sorry about Lady's eye! How sad! but She sounds like she is adjusting just great! I had a poodle long time ago... We got him as an adult and were told he was 4-5 when he died a couple of years later suddenly the vet told us he was about 15-18 and totally blind and had been for years.. We could never tell (well only when I would rearrange the furniture and he would bump into it for a couple of hours we thought he was just stupid never knew he was blind) |

| So sorry to hear about Lady's eye? Just for my own info, what did the infection look like (was it more than just goop in the inner corners?).
Have to agree w/ comments about the depths of our Doberkids affections. She is happiest when she is in the same room as her humans, if not in physical contact with us. Am surprised at how anyone we have welcomed into our home (our son is at boarding school and his good buddies come home w/ him for the weekend) immediately becomes part of her 'pack'. One boy climbed into the back seat of our Explorer and before I knew it, Java had her front end in his lap, head snuggled in the crook of his arm. (So much for my fierce man-eater....lol) |

| sorry to hear about Lady's eye. But I am sure she is happier right now with you and her family and only one eye than she ever was with two eyes.
You are so right about the bond and affection they have for their families. no matter what they have been thru, they always have room to love. there is nothing better than having a dobe, they just seem to get people, usually better than most folks get each other.
