| Is this normal ear posture? Maggie is 6 months and has a very long show cut. They stand beautifully and the tips have firmed up. When she lowers them down in a submissive posture, there is a crease about 1/2 way down on the back edge of each ear - almost like a fold. She throws them up and they are straight as a board. Is this normal? It doesn't seem like a weakness point when they are up, and reposting doesn't seem to be helping this. Is this common?
Here are a couple pics - one alert and the other in a lowered position: |

| | Alpha | Nothing unusual at all about them folding their ears like that when the mood strikes them.

| She really is pretty. I met the brother that Nancy is keeping, and saw the one up here a couple of weeks ago at our club WAE.
What does Nancy say about the ears? They look good and the fold looks normal. I know it is nerve wracking the first time you post a puppy - trying to figure out when you are done!

| she's so pretty and I love those ears!
I wish Tuck's ears would stand up. He looks so intelligent when and if they're standing, which is rare.
He's cropped but I don't think his other owners ever posted his ears, or if they did it wasn't long enough
Can ya post ears on a mature dog and get em to stand up? |

I re-posted, but they have really been this way all along - it's just the way she drops her ears. It really is confusing because most of the pics we post of our dobes here, we choose the alert/erect ear pics, so you hardly see pics with them down.

YOu've got to post while the pups ears are growing adn the cartiledge is forming and hardening. Once the dog matures it's too late. That's why you can only successfully crop young puppies. the vet who did Codys ears (at 9 weeks) was concerned it might be too late. she prefers do crop at about 6 weeks.
