Foaming at the mouth

I take my doberman puppy (7 months old) to a walking trail everyday. Dogs are allowed to be off leash. My puppy likes to run around, either by himself or with other dogs. One thing I notice is that he foams at the mouth after a few minutes of running. I myself have no problem with it, but I do not want other people to think that there a rabid doberman on the loose. Does anyone else have similar experiences?

yep, Quincy was a foamy puppy especially around girlies... he still gets foamy when 'excited' about another dog - either sex. He'll shake and sling foam everywhere.

Just to be safe, observe carefully and make sure he's not getting into anything toxic.

That age is about when it was impossible to keep half the world out of Ezra's mouth, here.

There are all kinds of plants that can cause the foamy stuff, too, like white clover--if your pup is a "grazer."

It's likely just excitement, especially if this is always situational and he has no other symptoms, but try to rule out any toxins/environmental things.

Yep, Zeus is a foam slinger too! We keep a 'goober' rag by the back door for when he comes in with a snout covered in goob. lol

Louie foams, Scoob foams even more (so gross) then he shakes and gets all over the place (even more gross)

...oh then if he drinks a lot of water and runs around he always spits it up...

Yep! Baruch too. He starts frothing at the mouth as soon as we start out the door for our daily frolic! I think he is just sooo excited to run in the field and find those deer berries!

Mmmmm, deer berries. Kylie and Ez say come on over for a visit--we have an endless supply of bunny and horse berries, too.

Oh lord, if a female is in the neighborhood, my boy would not only be "foaming at the mouth" his nose would be a faucet constant drip.

I am relieved. I thought there was an issue with my puppy's jowls.

Red foams during exercise too. Then he shakes his head and flings it everywhere, including up the side of his face... ugh

Don't you hate it when you don't have anything with you to wipe that stuff off of their heads and necks?
