| I would be scared to death, for my dogs. I wouldn't do anything to the family but ignore them until you move. I can just see that kid chucking poison meatballs over into your yard.
I would go camp, unless you have a friend you could stay with?

| Hi RedFawn - What state are you in? I wanted to tell you that we had a very similar circumstance where we currently live. When we first bought this house, the cretin next door was about 12, and he was already smoking, cutting school, and drinking beer - which his Dad, a border patrol cop, provided him and his friends. He drove a beater (of course, at 12, he was unlicensed...) He was in juvie a few times, and on probation - but because his dad was a cop, the sheriff and deputies all looked the other way, or chucked him on the chin and said "behave now, son"...
Well, they let their pit bulls and chow and rottie run the streets (it's a neighborhood in a "city", but is mostly horse properties and larger lots) - people were always complaining and calling animal control...
There's a LOT more to this - for some reason, they got it in their heads that we were the ones doing all the reporting, and started being threatening to us, and throwing things that we assumed were poisoned over the fence. We just made utter pests of ourselves ofr a while, calling the sheriff EVERY single time anything happened. We documented everything, photographed things, went to the police station personally, to talk with the lieutenant, etc...
Monkey boy, as we not-affectionately call him, was absolutely wild and uncontrolled for years. Eventually, the authorities got tired of hearing all the complaints and reports - and tired of hearing how there was such favoritism and special consideration because the dad was part of their fraternity. We insinuated that we would contact the newspaper and otherwise publicize the special treatment this delinquent was getting (even the fire department knew about him, as he nearly started several fires - a catastrophe in southern California!)
They eventually told him (and his dad) that his time had come - that the next time ANY infraction at all was reported, he was going to juvenile hall, and that as soon as he turned 18, they would pounce on anything, including littering, to put his ass in jail..... he has, essentially, been a model citizen (for a moron and a pig) for the last few years... at least, enough that we no longer live in panic. Though we would really love to get out of here.
One last thing - last year, when we were planning to move back to NY, we were buying a house built in 1850. It was on a few acres, and we were planning to erect a fence on a small area before the closing, where we could move the dogs, and my husband was going to go there before me, to be with them... so it's not so crazy an idea - IF you get the seller's permission first, or have already closed on it. Hope this helps - lois |

| Oh yeah - I wanted to say that on our street, many of the neighbors knew monkey boy since he was born (a bunch of old ladies lived here since 1955), and no matter what he did - even if they actually witnessed it (and in one case, were a co-victim of it), all they would say was "He's not so bad, he's just having fun.", or "He didn't mean it. Why, I've known him and his sister and their parents since...." - denial ain't just a river in Egypt.
But if you have sympathetic neighbors, consider a petition - even a few signatures from respectable people can give you some leverage. |

Ah. My private, not-affectionate name for this freak kid is "Fishbelly," due to his propensity for going around flabby, transparently white, and shirtless. (Yes, that's cruel, but I think I'm allowed, at this point.)
Thanks to everyone venting about stomping some weirdos--it's not something one can really do in real life, but it warms the cockles of my old cold heart to hear it being discussed, in a supportive kinda way, hehe.
And yeah, the post about the mother being the problem--never were truer words typed. Just like the dog problems we see on here can nearly always be traced back to an owner, this all comes back to the parent(s). There is even a tiny part of me which has an iota of compassion for this kid--he never had a chance, with these genetics and this type of parenting.
The tale of this family is like a Jerry Springer marathon and I'm offended and embarrassed to even KNOW about them, much less have to confront this sort of harrassment from them.

| Well, I wish you the best of luck. It sounds like he has the potential to be a serial killer! I would move ASAP. Don't take your eyes off the dog's, because with psychos like him you never know what they'll do. I could see him tossing poisonous meat over to them to, like someone else already said. Keep us posted on how things go. I feel for ya. |

Oh no RFR! I am so sorry this is happening to you! Maybe we can break this down into smaller steps for you to conquer the problem-leading to a positive end result for you.
I totally agree that the FIRST thing you need to do is to secure the safety of your dogs and yourself! This kid AND his family are verbally using terrorist threats and the physical intimidation furthers this to a dangerous level- it's not just words any more. I know you realize this of course, and I am certainly not trying to worry you more, Karen, I am so worried about you! Second, when you and yours are safe, THEN perhaps it would be easier to "kick ass" so to speak, through legal means. Is this kid a minor? Can law enforcement charge the parents for, let's say, reckless endangerment or? -for not reeling in that little bastard? What about the landlord or property manager-or even the owner of the property? In keeping a journal of EVRERYTHING that happens-mayber you can also borrow a video camera? Caught on tape would be a great tool-also, what about animal control, and a cruelty to animals complaint for what they are doing to your dogs? While I am trying to think of things you CAN do to help you, I am also saying to myself that obviously these ppl are NOT stable, so even if you do something to try to protect yourself, it might make the situation worse still!? I would get yourself and your beloved 4 leggeds safe, even renting a generator is a good idea, but do you even have running water yet out there at your new place? Someone you can stay with?
Oh Karen....I will be thinking....don't we have a legal eagle on this forum? I thought we did... I will keep thinking of how to help..PLEASE try to be safe!!!

Just the fact that you have had to barricade yourself in the house and cannot even go outside in your yard anymore-this is just AWFUL for you! I SO wish I could do SOMETHING to help! Want to move to Wyoming? I have room, and it's beautiful here!

| Please move to your property worse case scenario with the brat teasing your dogs if they were to get loose and attack him since he is a minor your dogs would be dead no matter if he was teasing them they do not care. Doberman attacks teenage boy they will not get your side of the story. Also the brat might poison them as was said earlier kids that tease dogs often become killers of dogs then they go on to people as you know.Even if your dogs were protecting you the dogs would get the dirty end of the stick not the brat. When he is yelling and cussing you out I'm sure your dogs have marked him in their own minds as some one that threatened their Mom so one day they might get the opportunity to deal with the brat on their own. All it would take is the right circumstances & timing for your dogs to react. Plus being teased can sure change a dogs attitude about Kids all your hard work at having well socialized dogs could go down the drain the more the dogs are exposed to it.Hugs to you hope things will go well for you till you can get out of there.Patches Mom
Had a old 30# Mutt years ago that was teased by the neighbor boy I told him to stop he did not, I talked to the parents they asked the kid if he did that of course he said no. One day we were out front washing the car Dusty the old Mutt spotted the kid charged after the kid, the kid saw him scared the kid good. I called Dusty he turned back before engaging with the kid. Then the kid tried to make friends with Dusty no way no how Dusty was not as trusting with children from then on. |

| Really..........setting up a web cam would be a good and inexpensive idea. You can buy them really really cheap nowadays.
I agree with Kratty...this is harassment. You should not have to tolerate this regardless of the kids age. If he cant take the punishment for it, his parents should. That is bullshit. You have the right to have peace in your own home, not be threatened, and not be bullied.
I think the things that your doing right now (documenting, calling the police, etc.) are all steps in the right direction. I would contact an attorney and see what I could find out.
If nothing else...contact the media. Tell them your story and see if they will do something....maybe some kind of story about juvenile laws....how they effect the community?
That is just total BS. I am so sorry you have to deal with it.
