| I would find some way to *legally* scare the living shit out of this kid... and catching him in the act and videotaping him doing something naughty is also a good idea someone mentioned above. Personally, I would compile a big load of crap against this kid before you call the police again. The more you have on him the more law enforcement is likely to take your complaints seriously. Oh yeah, and move out soon! |

| I would talk to a lawyer in your area. Sounds like some sort of harassment, especially if on your property or directed to you while on your property. They should be able to determine what you need to do. Even a restraining order to keep him away from your property is a good start.
If you have a video camera, start videoing him harassing your dogs. Nothing is better than proof of his actions. At least this will lay the ground work, to your claims, if you need to take this further.
If the so called Uncle interferes with any of this, I would reach out to to the larger police agencies like the County police or sheriffs department. No one should have to tolerate this from anyone on your own property.

| I don't want to come across as I'm bashing the police, in all this, folks.
I do think they are doing what they can, within the bounds of the laws they have to work with.
The particular trooper assisting me takes it as a personal affront that these folks think they are above the law.
I actually have some digital pics of the kid, large tree branch still in hand, beside my car, with fresh new dents in the car...but that ain't proof he did it. It's close, but no cigar.
I may check into video, but really, I think getting out of here as soon as feasible is where I'd rather sink my money.

| Web cam is a less expensive option, I'm sorry to hear about the situation. If I was close by i'd teach that kid a lesson or two! |

Got a slingshot? Just kidding.

| What a nasty, horrible way to have to live. Poor you and poor dogs, I really, really hope you can get out sooner rather than later. It sounds like the laws regarding juvenile delinquents are as lame and useless there in the U.S. as they are here in Canada. Why oh why do the bleeding hearts make up these stupid laws?!It is so hard to not take the law into ones own hands (& paws ;-)

Yup, pretty much. Hey, I used to work within this system, so I know firsthand what a slap on the wrist most things are.
Unfortunately, that "slap" often escalates things and this is not a rational, reasoned family, so I am very appreciative of the police officers who are trying to be ready to assist, but not further aggravate the conflict, at the same time.
Marvelgirl--I was supposed to respond? I really am a bit stressed now, so will use that as an excuse for not coming up with something icy and demoralizing, but let's just say, I do believe that the suggestion made is NOT legal, and in fact falls under "brandishing."
I do appreciate all the helpful suggestions. It seems a shame that the only practical solution seems for me to submit to this juvenile form of terrorism and flee, but discretion the better part of valor and all that, especially when dealing with KahRayZee people.
In a sidenote, one of the neighbors who witnessed the kid harrassing the dogs tonight, and heard him cursing me, came and knocked on my door to tell me the mother of the kid is again putting forth descriptions of the various and sundry ways she would enjoy physically assaulting me. Niiiiice family. Everyone on the street is afeard of them.
