| sorry, but is the poll asking if you have a dobe that is c/d, or natural, or is the poll asking for your preference? |

| Like others said, you may want to go read the other thread linked to. Very informative, and pretty much all bases covered there.
Other than that, I'll just add, if you want respect for your preference, you would do well to give respect for the other.
Comments such as Dobermutt and the like are really offensive and immature.
I continue to find it highly ironic that folks who surgically alter the appearance of their dogs say that is more "normal" for a Doberman.
Ah well, as I said on the other thread, to each his own. I like the look of an artistic crop, but it's not something I'd ever choose to do for a dog of mine.

| I am all for cropping and docking, and prefer it. I love all dobermans though, and having ears and a tail would not stop me from adopting or fostering them.
With that said, I think it is the breeder's choice as to whether the puppies get C/D. It is what someone else said a while ago "their vision of the breed". The breeder of a litter put all of the time, effort, and love into producing the puppies, therefore they should choose. If puppy buyers aren't happy with the breeder's decision, they should look elsewhere.

| I've gone through the ear cropping with our first girl and it was horrendous, pieces of ears coming off on the tapes etc....she turned out looking pretty good but I'd never repeat.
Our adoptee has some pretty sweet natural ears and I love flipping them around and so does she...
As said, it changes not what is within. |

| I like cropped and docked for my dogs.
It is alot of work keeping them taped and clean but well worth it
IMO. I just like the look and it keeps the ears cleaner. |

| I am 100% for cropping and docking!! All the way, any dog I will ever own. BUT I do agree I think people can make their choice and that's great. And if a buyer wants a dog with natural ears I will work with them. As far as the tail there is no way to know at a few days old who is a show prospect or agility or obedience so they all go.
I have to say they don't look like a Doberman to me with natural ears, yes their all equal and so on. But they just lose that look that makes them a Doberman, the noble, the regal, the proud, the sleekness, that beautiful head! And I won't start on tails, they bother me to say the least, I see them and I watch in disbelief and wonder what is that?!? I know, I know it's bad. They look like coon hounds, skinny ones at that.
But to my point, in this day in age where there is BSL and cropping and docking bands are growing and growing, why oh why would you want to add to that??? I just figure one more natural dobe gives that person/organization a edge to say well people prefer it or people like it. I just absolutely HATE to see the choice taken away. And whatever I can do to stop it and prove it has a purpose and reason, I am all for!
Form follows Function!! The form of the Doberman started with a function and yes I understand times have changed but they were breed on a blueprint for a specific reason which included cropped ears. I love Dobermans for what they were meant to be outside and inside, temperment, drive and their conformation. And yes that includes cropped and docked! Just my tried and true beliefs.. By the way before I get emails, I don't mean this for people who can't help it, rescues, countries where it's banned, imports, ect. I think love your dogs however their made but these are my feelings |
