| Poor guy So I've been out walking/biking Zeus around the neighborhood a couple times a day. A few days back I noticed a big black dobe in someones back yard. It's kind of hard to see back there since it's across the "big road" in our subdivision and there are shrubs on either side of the fence. This poor dog is always outside by itself every time I walk by. There is a doghouse that I can see but the yard looks pretty muddy and not very well kept (although the front yard/house look very well kept). I don't know if it's a male or female but it's really sad. The dog usually barks when I walk by. But today it was really wet and rainy out and I didn't hear him bark.. so I looked over to see if the dog was still out there all by himself. Sure enough he was, and It was the saddest thing... he just had "that look" on his face that dobes get when they are wet and just want to go back inside I hope this guy has a loving family and it's just a coincidence that he's outside every time I pass by. Hopefully I will run into his owners sometime soon

| since it's your subdivision, maybe a knock knock knock on the door wouldn't be too forward? "Hi, neighbor, I see we both own dobermans"....and then take it from there. If they are like, yeah, he's our outside guard dog, then there's your answer. But then maybe dont' do that because you might not like the answer and you might post here and I know I'll feel really bad for the dog. Maybe let's all hope its just coincidence every time you walk by its that dog's potty break.

| Wow, that's terrible.
It's a real shame the people who have the pleasure of having that dobe are missing the pleasure of having that dobe. They are missing out on many joys in their lives.

| Maybe you should knock on the door and introduce yourself as a fellow dobie owner. Make friends and find out. Then you can make subtle hints w/o being offensive. Exmp: You know that their are actually Dobe owners who leave their dogs outside all day. Everyone knows they need near their family and don't tolerate temperature extreams well. |

| I wish more people would realize that dobies do not make good "dog house" dogs or constant outdoor pets!!!!

| I will never understand the point of getting any dog only to stick it outside all its life...? |

| I feel so bad for the poor boy. I can only imagine his face. I see it every day with my neglected puppers (yea right). Maybe this could be used as a teaching tool for the owners. Perhapse it is lack of training that puts him outside and they could use help with training to make him a well behaved inside spoiled pooch. I'd like to say that with education there would be so many more good owners and happy pets. It would be great if this could turn into something positive for both the dog and the owners. It may be possible they have no idea the gem they have hiding in their muddy backyard. |
