Ok, so this Saturday we went to the 8th annual Doberfest. Drove 2.5 hours to get there. It was nice. They had a raffle, Canine good citizenship certifications, agility course, lots of land, a pond, and of course lots of Dobermans playing. Kudos to Hand Me Down Dobes (HMDD) rescue for placing over 100 Dobermans with forever homes this year. That's awesome!
The day before it rained and the pond water was pretty dirty looking because of this. But the dogs still enjoyed it. It was the first time I've ever seen my dog go in a pond. I've tried in the past, but he wouldn't have anything to do with it. I think him seeing a lot of other Dobes running in and out of the water helped me immensely with this one. So thanks to all the Dobes for leading by example.
There were reportedly around 100 dobermans there before lunch. But I didn't go get my camera until afterward (around 2pm) and at that time there were about 50 Dobes there. The event closed at 4pm after the raffle.
The pics aren't the best, because I wasn't trying to actually snap good pics as much as I's just walking around for 10 minutes and taking random photos of the dogs being dogs. Also, I never really took pics in the big field area where they had lots of land to roam because I thought all the dogs would be there after lunch and I'd take them then. But by the time I got my camera, the field wasn't too occupied. Enjoy!
The driveway at Bark 'Til Dark Dog Park (say that three times fast) when I pulled in.
A pavilion shot by the pond
Random shot of part of pond
Another shot by paddle boat. There were people there going for rides with their Dobe in the boat.

The dogs either dug the lady, or the shade she was in.
Fetching
My dog eating (and yes I mean eating) dirty water even though I brought him filtered water that I carried around.
This is a sweet story. My dog playing with her two dogs. The lady in the green shirt is the one that fostered my dog when I went to rescue him. I occasionally send her pics and was glad to see her there, and our dogs having fun together. Although you could def tell times change and he didn't pay too much attention to his foster parent. So goes it I guess.
Took me like 10 attempts to finally get my dog to go over that wall. And he wouldn't jump the bars until they were lowered to near the very bottom (as seen in the pic)...lol. That's what happens when you don't train for that I guess.
Random shot of dogs winding down.
My dog up front and close there. Met the guy (black shirt and hat) and found out he only lives a few miles from me and frequents a lot of the same parks.
My boy sniffing on an old Great Dane. Look at Ripleys eye...lol. He has that OMG look! Poor Dane could barely walk and looked like it took a lot of effort just to get up or lay down. Sad to see.
People hanging with their Dobes during the raffle at the sales item tent.
All in all Ripley had a great time. And I'm sure if for nothing else, I'll go again next year just so he can play with a bunch of Dobes.
