| Strange 'slow motion' behaviour Any ideas you may have on this behaviour are greatly appreciated!
When we are not at home Tia is now allowed to roam free in the house. However, due to her over excitedness when we come home and her tendancy to jump up as soon as we open the door we have started going to the porch window next to the back and telling her to sit. As soon as we do this she starts moving in slow motion. We have never seen anything like it before and she doesn't do it at any other time. I have never ever seen a dog move so slowly.
When we first see her she is moving around normally and then as soon as she sees us and we use the sit command she becomes motionless, stares and then starts doing the slow motion moves until she is eventually sat. It can literally take her 3 to 5 minutes to execute her movement!!
As soon as we enter the house and tell her good girl she's back to her normal self!
Any ideas/thoughts!! |

| Sounds like when my Cinder would "stalk" when she played. Maybe your dog thinks it's a game.

| Dogs will do the slow motion thing as a calming signal..perhaps she feels like you're upset with her, are you repeating the sit command? She might be feeling stressed at your arrival. Calming Signals

Calming Signals | This makes sense as she will hear the car pull up get excited and then we appear giving her a command which is stopping her exicitement in its tracks and yes we do repeat the sit command to try and get her to 'speed up' (especially if its raining - which it usually is!)
Thank you for this insight! |

Thank you for this insight! | Yup, I bet if you repeat the command to hurry her up, she just moves even slower LOL. Total calming signal right there...I would maybe just walk right in the house and ignore her...if she jumps up, keep moving and ignore her until she settles a bit.

ox | Carol its soooo weird!! The only other time she does anything remotely similar is when she's trying to catch a fly (never quite manages though), but then she just stands still. When she's doing this she's moving, its like somebody flipped a slow down switch in her!! Bizarre to see! |
