| The other day my wife and I walked with our Dobe into Crate and Barrell Furniture. The woman greeting customers at the door said, "Excuse me, is that a working dog? If the dog is over 30 pounds, we require them to be working dogs." I replied, "Well ... she's in the working CLASS if that counts." She said, "Ok come on in." HA! I sure am glad the Dobe stays in the "working class" in this proposed reorg. I sure wouldn't want to have to lie to C&B! |

| interesting, although as someone who is very involved in putting on a dog show, this would definitely increase our costs and work!

| I personally have never been fond of the "Companion Dog" group. Always seemed to be a bit of a catch-all for breeds we can't fit anywhere else. I mean--Chinese Crested, French Bulldog, and Standard Poodle! What do they have in common in terms of temperament or body type??

| What????? I think they should just leave it as is and concentrate more on bringing down BYBs, if anything.

| the RR has not been placed into a group yet - they haven't decided if it is staying in the hound group, or being placed in the working group, is what I heard. That's up to their parent club, I believe.
If you note, there are some major moves - Dalmatians are now working!
there are some other changes they were considering, I thought too - like doing away with varieties that are purely color or coat based - why do smooth and rough/wire coats get double chances to compete in some breeds, or multiple colors? (doxies, collies, cockers, etc) - they would all now eventually compete against each other. i think that's only fair

| Hate it. Companion group?? I see breeds on there that were created for a job, and I don't like the implication that a breed not on there is not a companion? Maybe the membership is looking to better their odds for group wins?

I sure wouldn't want to have to lie to C&B! | Please, if you are asked whether your dog is working, do NOT pass the dog off, even if it's "just" by misleading, as a working animal.
That question "Is your dog working?" is the ONLY question business/public venue employees are permitted to ask as folks partnered with Service Dogs attempt to enter.
The more folks take advantage and are not actually legally permitted access, but engage in this type of behavior--the worse access becomes for those of us who do rely on our dog's assistance, every single day.
We disabled folks fight enough battles daily, without this sort of thing being piled on.
Back to the original topic, I personally would like to see the Lhasa moved to working or some other group, since they are an area guard and for sure not the warm fuzzy "companion" some folks would make them out to be. I have my own private name for the group they really belong in, but I'll refrain from sharing, heh.
