| New stuffies Well, I succombed to temptation a few days ago while in a pet store. I saw these big, bone shapped stuffed toys with a fuzzy wubba type covering. It has been such a long time since a stuffie was allowed in the house, I thought I'd give it another try. After all, we have gone a whole month and their beds are still intact! As many of you know, Sebastian and Sydney are champion stuffie skinners and a stuffie usually has a life span of a few hours or less. I simply got tired of picking up the stuffing all over the house and I had a hard time justifying spending money only to be destroyed after an hour or so. But give in I did and thought "I'll give it a shot". When I got home Syd and Seb went wild over their new toys. I bought a pink one for Syd and a natural one for Seb. Of course, they instantly traded with each other.......the other one must be the best!!!!!
Imagine my surprise when now, 2 days later, and they are still intact!! They have toted them around in their mouths constantly and are sleeping with them in their crates. Today, I did have to take them away for a short time because Seb was stealing Syd's and putting it in his crate.... lots of whining and barking and snarling. OK..bye bye stuffies.
After dinner I returned them to their owners and they are now happily laying down using them as a pillow. Sebastian is using his as a "suckie".
OK....anyone want to take bets on how long these bones will remain "stuffed"?????????????

| Maybe they've realised the true value of the stuffie after not having one for a while! they know they gotta look after these ones as the stuffie is endangered so they are gonna love them and carry them everywhere so they dont get lost, and cuddle them and care for them always........i give 'em 2 days!

| OK Friday night update.......... they are still attached at the "mouth" to these stuffies. They even carry them out to go potty with! It is quite hilarious to watch.
Well, I had just thought, "great they are still in one piece". No sooner than the thought formed in my mind - - then WW3 erupted in the kitchen and all hell broke loose. Sebastian had stolen Sydney's again when she dropped it to drink some water. He then ran and put hers into his crate and layed on top of it! Syd went crazy barking at him, then realized that his was laying on the floor next to the water bowl. Well she scooped it up and before I could rectify the situation and restore the proper stuffie to the proper dog, Sydney just tore a hole in one end of Sebastian's stuffie. Well Sebastian came tearing out of his crate and went after Syd growling. He didn't hurt her, but he let her know in no uncertain terms that he was beyond pissed. I retrieved the torn stuffie and am now in the process of sewing it back up, how long it will last is anyone's guess!!!!!!! My hubby wanted to be reminded once again why I had to have two dobies!!!!!!!!!
Well, to PatchesMom - thanks for the tip. We have a graveyard of destuffed stuffies that seem to have lost their appeal.
To Voodoolizard.......you lost the bet!! (he he)
To Bec and Dan.....they got them on Monday and it is Friday, so you lose too!!
To Avalonandon......you are so right. They have provided some great moments and lots of new comments in their "puppy" books! PM me how to join the DragonSlayers. on how the weekend will turn out!

It lasted 6 months and Duke loved it. I just bought another one, but now I have 2 dobergirls with Duke. The girls just loved playing tug of war with it. Between that and Duke trying to kill it it, it did not last past two weeks this time. I also tried other non-sutffed toys, a squirrel and a chipmunk, made by a different company. Those are still around, the girls play tug of war with them and they have held up. Even Duke has not succeeded in killing them. It's been about a month and a half now... |
