| State Farm doesn't have any restrictions...looks like it may be time for an insurance company change.

| USAA asked when we got renter's insurance on the house we're in now - They were totally cool with her being a Dobe and said that breed doesn't matter but they can't insure if the dog has an unprovoked bite on their record...

| I have farm burea ins and they don't accept you if you have Dobies. The owners son told me they cancel if you get one, he is a close friend of my husbands. He said he did not mind that we had one, because he like them and thinks they should not be on the list, however, if we got a German Shepard he would have to cancel us. WTF, no dog should be on the list. I did not argue with him but I did look at our policy and no where can I find anything about any kind of dog. I even looked through the indepth little book they send that explains things in depth and tells what different terms mean, I found nothing. I did not tell him when we got the second Dobe. Their ears are not fixed, so if anyone say anything, I will say they are a mixed breed, ((evil grin)).
Oh, I have to give him cudos because when my friends insurance found out she had a DoberGirl, they canceled her insurance. He girl was 11 and they had the same ins all that time. She even explained that to them and told them she was so old she could barely walk anymore and they still canceled. The Farm Buera guy, called her and insured her. He is a stand up guy.

| | Alpha | There are quite a few companies that have the "black list" of various breeds. Try getting someone to carry you if you have a dog "trained to bite". THAT can get very interesting. |

| There was a thread about this before - we have AAA, and I don't think they asked - since we had 4 Dobes until recently, I guess they don't care?! (And had 2 GSD's before that, and 1 GSD and 2 Dobes at first...)

| My experience - asked my agent if I was insured in case of dog bite. Was told that I should call the company and list the dog which I did.
For being honest I received a letter of cancellation and an offer to renew at double the premium AND sign an exclusion on the dog.
Ok so you want to charge me double but I am not covered if the dog bites someone !!!
My business company picked up the policy as they are used to having dogs at most business properties.
this was 8 years ago - Also found out they rate by weight of dog not just breed. The thinking being the larger thhe dog the greater potential for damage.
