| Rain-proofed! Is it just me, or has everybody else been getting an unusually high number of thunderstorms and rain these past few months where you are???? All this yucky wetness has put quite a damper on Dante’s outdoor activities.
On the bright side though, yesterday evening I decided to bring Dante to the park, even though there were clusters of ominously dark clouds here and there amongst the sunshine and white fluffy clouds.
We arrived, he’s excited, and we head into the park grounds. Lo and behold, not 10 minutes into our walk/hike, a whole SHEET of dark clouds rolled over head us, thunder rumbled, and rain just poured down like no tomorrow.
Dante HATES HATES HATES the rain. We were too far from the car in the parking lot at this point to make a mad dash for cover, so we just had to make our way back, and getting drenched on the way. The look on poor Dante’s face, you would think he was dying! LOL. He had his ears way flat beside his head, and his little tail nub curled so far down.
Halfway making our way back, another crazy (lol, like me) dog owner and her two young dogs were making their way INTO the park. “Oh it’s just rain” she said, and her two dogs didn’t seem to mind getting wet. Amazingly, Dante immediately perked up when he saw the two approaching dogs. He kicked into play mode and within minutes was engaging the dogs in a chase and tumble-play.
From that point on Dante was having so much fun, and he was SOAKING WET. He was practically having zoomies all over the park with his new friends. Me, not so much fun lol. Every time he dived or skidded into another muddy puddle I cringed lol. I kept wishing i had my camera with me to take snapshots of him zipping all over the place in a wet flashes.
It was still raining when we left. I was surprised because Dante acted like he didn’t want to leave, and he was still getting drenched. It was Eau de Wet-Dog all the way back home in the car.
Yeah, on the bright side, I rain-proofed my Dobie LOL. Don’t think he’ll protest too much anymore next time we have to go out in the rain. |

| You described it so well I can picture it in my mind and laugh. I wish we would get some rain, it is very dry where I live. |

Haven't had too many of those all summer The most infuriating thing is that for the last couple of weeks it's been nice and sunny and dry while i sit at my desk stuck at work, and the minute i leave work, thunder, lightning, RAIN. Sheesh. |

| lexx says: you are nuts, dobermans are watersoluable. its a well known fact.
We got caught in a rain storm on a walk the other day. He did the EXACT same face. Flat ears, flat nubbin. UPSET eyes.
As soon as we got inside he did "warm inside air meets cold wet outside doberman and ZOOMIES all over the place. hilarious.

| funny, Rex wouldn't agree with you Leanne, it was hard to keep him out of the lake this weekend, he was bounding around in there and swimming, didn't know he knew how. He enjoyed following his mother when she was retrieving her ball. Now Anna would agree with Lexx, she fell of the dock shortly after we arrived, that was enough for her, she kept clear of the dock, beach, any chance of getting wet.
I'll have to post the picture of Grace and Rex swimming. I don't know if it's b/c he isn't too smart, but he was even jumping in off the dock, Grace will only go in from the shore.

| I live pretty close to you so I can vouch for the rain being a real pain in the ass. Especially when you have a puppy you are trying to housebreak.

It's like he's screaming: "AAHHHHH I'M FREEZING I'M COLD COLD COLD IT'S COLD!!!!" over and over again as he zooms around at top speed. Oh and he stops mid-zoomies several times too to roll around on the floor as if he's trying to shake or rub the cold off him LOL |
