| | Lil Pup | Doberman in crate? I have a 7 month old male doberman. I work out of the home part-time right now but I was thinking about working out of home full-time. How long is too long for the doberman to be in a crate? Not sure I can afford daycare for him at this point. What should I do. I only have one doberman and I cannot afford two. |

| I work full time, no choice, my pups are crated, all day, if I could find a dog walker I would go with that but unfortunately where I live it is cost prohibitive. But they don't seem to mind, the minute I pick up the kongs they all run for their crates, they know treats are coming. I have learned to do my errands on my breaks so that I get home as soon after work as I can. No messes, no destruction, crates are clean and dry, and they are very happy to see me.

| Karma is crated all day as well. She doesnt seem to mind it either. I used to let her be loose... but then I got tired of cleaning up a wreck everytime I came home. Lets revisit that again...
Maybe some dragons broke into the house??

| Red is crated for about 6 hours on average during work days. Occasionally he has been in there for upwards of 8 hours but I hate to do that to him... If I know we're going to be gone for longer than that, I'll have my MIL come over and let him out.
He's been loose at night for the last 4 months, and we've started leaving him out in the computer room (where his bed and everything is) for several hours for the past few weeks and he's been fine. We're gradually working our way up to longer periods so hopefully he can stay out all the time. Thankfully, he's never touched anything in the room while we're gone. And he still loves his crate - he voluntarily sleeps in there at night a lot. |

| Sarge actually gets the entire house to himself. Freak thing I guess because he's never torn anything up even when he was little. He was crated for about a month when we got him and after that he did fine without any restrictions. |

Maybe some dragons broke into the house?? | oh no!! That wouldn't be fun to come home, but the picture is great! ha! The look on their faces, they know they've been naughty! I see 2 IG's...where's the 3rd? :-)

| | Lil Dog | Anyone have a dog door ?? I have one for my Greyhounds and Retriever mix and it was the best thing I ever did. My dogs time alone varies depending on the shift my wife works (retail manager) so somedays they are home alone for 2 hours, sometimes 10 hours and we have never had any problem. |

| I have indoor/outdoor kennel runs here that I put my dogs in before I leave for work in the morning. Each dog has a 20' long outdoor gravel run, Cher's is 20' wide also, the whippets are all 5' wide and they go in through dog doors into the inside part where there beds are. This sort of set up is pretty easy to build off a garage in most houses. I personally can't stand the thought of having my dogs crated all day while we're at work.
