| Incident Avoided at Dog Show!! So today, is the third day of a four day dog show we have here in town. During the whole thing (8am til 6pm gawd!) I have been taking Karma all around between the agility side and the conformation side. I am running my Italian so Karma is really just there to be socialized and hang out. As always she is a great ambassador for our breed as she loves other dogs and people. Pretty funny to see her do her lil puppy bounce with the conformation dogs, rofl!!
SO... we had such a near miss of throwing it all away!! Karma and I were sitting on the floor visiting a friend and a lil girl... when this random little boy maybe six years old... out of no where is walking in our direction with his jacket on his head totally covering his eyes?!?!? Karma was laying with her head aimed in the opposite direction that the kid was coming in... and I dont know why I didnt see him SOONER... but next thing I know he is tripping over Karmas legs! She got totally startled and leaped up.. I did see teeth, but in the blur of me swatting him to the left of her so he wont hurt her legs and pulling her to the right, nothing happened. He stopped there and was like "sorry" in whiny voice, and I was like JUST GO!! and he went away.
I can just see if she did something, we would of had such drama!! And it would of totally not been her fault at all. I was mad at the kid because he was kinda of doing things all weekend that I thought was kind of dangerous around dogs, you never know how they will react .. even Karma is as sweet as pudding, but she got a real good scare of this kid stepping all over her
I think I will find the kid tomorrow and make him apologize to her instead of me...

| | Big Pup | Where were the parents? I would find them too, I hate to see unsuprevised kids at a dog show. I know it is long and sometimes boring for them, but parents need to be responsible for what the children are doing. Yes, I do have children and they do know to respect a dogs space and to ask before touching. |

| My biggest question would have to be where were the parents? When my kids were that age (and it wasn't all that long ago) there was a parent or somebody that was in charge of said child/children at all time... especially when we were out in public, I didn't (and still don't lol) care how small the venue if there are strangers I knew (know) where my kids are and what they are getting into at all times.......
I am so glad that Karma is alright, and didn't get that little boy (although he did deserve it). Props to you for your reaction time....

| When I did Dog Shows about a 100 years ago it seems my son stayed in the big dog crate he thought it was great fun and no one thought a thing about it at least I knew where he was. Now days some people would be shocked at a kid in a crate, some parents now days let their kids run loose with no supervision at all could have been a very bad situation and would have added to Doberman's are mean mentality. Glad your girl had good sense not to bite the child.Good girl. |

| The kid was/is probably bored out of his damn mind. You can only look at dogs for so long at that age before you try and find other things to do. I'm not saying the kid shouldn't be kept in line but he was relatively young and "boys will be boys" He apologized and I'd leave it at that, no sense in hounding him down unless you weren't being serious. I also probably wouldn't have said "JUST GO!" but rather. A "you really need to be careful She could have bite you because you scared her." kind of thing, and then issued a further warning about his misc behavior in the days prior. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying this but whatever. |

It does make sense though. It's put a funny image in my head - a line of crated dogs at a show and then a couple of crates on the end for the kids lol!! |

| What is bad with this situation, if she had bitten him she would have gotten the blame for it. Not the parents of the kid but the poor scared dog who was minding her business Because she is a Doberman there would have been a worse uproar.

| Its interesting, here in Texas if there is an Amber Alert its all over our highways, it just amazes me that he was just running around all weekend I would be so worried if I had kids. I actually never even saw who his parents were!! They day before, I guess to keep him entertained they had him running leashes... and he was jumping back and forth over the practice jump all running... and I was like cringing. There are a good bit of kids there, but most of them are real careful and ask before touching and so forth. But like it was said, boys will be boys... I told the kid to JUST GO because karma was FREAKED!!! and he was still standing like right on us... and of course I was still pissed I saw the kid again today and he always ran over my italian... i give up! hehe...just walked around him and avoided him when I could.
