| Show Dogs! I keep reading over and over how our show dogs are light, refined, delicate, no bone.
In my experience, most of the "show" lines I have seen have plenty of bone. Am I missing something here? Am I seeing "bone" wrong?
I am so sick of seeing "show" lines slammed when I just don't think it's the case from what I have seen.

| I said the same thing in a post about a month ago. Most of the "show dogs" that I have seen, have been larger actually.
I think the photos that most people see of "show dogs" is when they are young dogs and people assume that they are full grown dogs.

| I think it's also a bit deceiving because most show dog pictures are just stacks or poses, not really of them "being dobes". Personally I don't think there is anything more beautiful, confident, or strong, than a show dog moving. I do appreciate the strength of working sport dogs in action as well |

| | Alpha | The trend has been going back to dogs with more bone, but from what I've seen the top "conformation" dobes are smaller (less bone/muscle) than dogs I would want to perform real work. And the ones I've worked with from "show lines" are too flighty to handle. This is just my personal experience and opinion. Obviously there are some who cross lines, but believe they are the exception rather than the rule. |

| I've got a 6 month old male here with tons of bone - he will be in his first show next weekend. His daddy has tons of bone also - and neither of them seem flighty.
Both of my bitches are very standard sized and have appropriate bone for their size.

| None of my dogs are flighty. We also have plenty of bone. My Top 20 bitch for this year, Party, I feel would do great in working stuff. Her mother is the same, very confident, protective and determined.
The dog we had in the Top 20 last year, Ch Promise's Beau Rivage V Olympia is the same as Party. Great temperament and plenty of bone. |
