| Do all males hump? Catchy title huh?
Anyways, if we considered our next dobe to be male, I really don't want him humping our Sierra. Is this a common thing all males dogs will do? or only some dogs? If all males do it, then I think I'll stick with female...
Sierra has a very good bond with both of us, however I can not deny she is a daddy's girl.. I thought if we got a boy, I might form a closer bond with him, but I have no idea. I have never had a male dog before.

| Brownie and Rommel both do it. They dont hump Ziris (she would eat them) but there have been occasions that they have both tried to hump Piper. (she is a spayed female)
They dont hump things.........like couches or anything, only Piper. LOL.

| Just to let you know, around dogs, even females can hump... its more of a dominance behaviour then antything else, unless its a male that is about to mate a female.

| I've actually never had a male that DID hump, and they have all been intact. It's all individual.

| Like was mentioned, unless it's an intact male and a female in heat, the humping is a dominance display. Females would be as likely as males to display dominance.
BTW, I nearly answered your post as if you were asking ME, then thought the better of it? Probably get points off or something.

| Tucker humps air.
Nothing but air.
Tucker is WEIRD hehehe
sometimes he just gets himself moving and it's like he can't stop...like he's dreaming or something cause it's usually when he's been laying down/snoozing that it happens, he gets up and the motion get motioning...he stops as soon as I tell him to knock it off though
again...my dog is weird! |

| I've never seen Duke try to hump anything or anyone. He's 21 mos. now, and neutered. Before we adopted Duke we had a male GSD. He did not hump either. |
