| Policy against Doberman.... Zeus is about 5.5 months now... We thought taking him to the Americana (a huge outdoor mall) would be a good experience for him. 20 steps into the complex, a security guard stops us and says, I quote "Dobermans are not allowed here. Company policy." We didn't want to make a big deal out of it and decided to head back home. The management (Westfield) allows dogs from chiuahuas to golden retrievers, BUT not dobes. I just felt a bit discriminated against if i may say, only because I know 100% that our Zeus would never do anything to harm another soul. Now remember guys, when the security guard stopped us, Zeus was NOT pulling on the leash; he was heeling right next to my girlfriend the whole time. I just dont think this policy is fair at all. You can't blame the breed. I just wanted some insight on this situation. I really would like to propose something to the company in which they can change the policy.
The Americana just opened recently in Glendale, California. Huge outdoor shopping center. Lot of foot traffic and a lot of dogs are seen there. But not the "dangerous" ones.....
I did send an e-mail out to the corporate office. Just wanted to see what their response is. Hopefully i'll at least get a reply. |

| Will be interesting to know what they say the head quarters that is, would have been a great learning experience for Zeus. Think I would have said something to that effect how are Doberman's suppose to have good reputations if no one allows them out and about where they can learn good manners.
Give Zeus a extra pet from me he was being a good boy heck you know now the Dachshund is the most aggressive breed. Did you see any at the Mall?

| After we had already had homeowners' insurance for years, apparently a new edict came out, wanting to either deny insurance, or have outrageous riders and rates, for "the dangerous breeds" . . . of course, they were pits, rotties, dobes, and i can't remember all of them, but clearly the movies and beware signs have not helped our breed at all... I wonder if there are statistics anywhere, comparing bites and attacks by breed. I'm figuring the top attackers are dachshunds, yorkies, poms, and maybe akitas. cheesh.
The best way to get back at them is to go through the Canine Good Citizen training and certification, and then get him certified as a therapy dog. They can go anywhere!!! LOL!!! |

| | Alpha | It would seem if it is an outdoor shopping mall, it shouldn't be any different then walking downtown along store fronts. I commend you on how you handled the situation. However, I am the type that would have challenged him to explain how you could be denied entry to an outdoor facility. This is interesting. Please update us with any further information. |

| tell them he's a whippet. Make them prove he's a doberman and not a whippet.

| SUCH a load of crap. I think we should start a SPL instead of just fighting the BSL. Stupid People Legislation "Oh, I'm so sorry, we don't allow stupid people here, you'll have to leave now, company policy." Be some pretty empty places around I tell you that!
