BTW, it's really not a good idea to copy and post pictures of dogs who belong to other people. Besides being copyright violations, it's kind of rude. It's a much better idea to link to the picture.

Except that if you have taken the photo yourself and the photo is your property.

My avatar shows a photo that I took of a doberman that is not mine. I just like this photo that I took. (and the Dober) I would not show this photo if the owner objected to it's use however. But I certainly have full rights to it's use.

As long as you aren't claiming it as your own whats the big deal? I don't see the point in being uptight about it breeder or non-breeder. It's a picture of a Beautiful dog. The end. It would be different if the OP said "look at this beautiful picture of MY Doberman". Whomever takes issue with anything of the sort really needs to get out more.

I completely agree with you about the pic thing but some people do take major offense to that for some odd reason. It's easier to just be courteous and ask permission to keep people happy. I have ran across sooooo many people that have wallpapers and even a Myspace background of my GSXR and I think it's really cool they like it that much. I just don't see why anyone would get mad at someone paying you a complement like that but that's just me.

We went through this a few years back on a motorcycle forum I had. Some model liked to pose nude on bikes and didn't care for her pics being in our bike-n-babe gallery. As long as we weren't making money from her photos or using them to advertise there's nothing she could do about it. Once a pic hits the net it's fair game as long as you don't make cash from it.
