| Shoot me if this is stupid question... but, I have noticed in several member's pictures that your doberkid has two collars on - a chain (or choke) and a "regular" collar. Why do you have two? Am I doing something wrong? |

| BANG BANG!! Hee Hee... Just kidding!
I know that on mine all of my pics are from when we are out playing or a dog park etc. Well I leave the tags on their main collars all the time and these are the ones they wear at home as well. Then when we go out I throw the prong on there. I just dont take them off the main collar that they wear all the time. Plus mine are a pain in the butt to walk if they are not on a prong collar.
You are not doing anything wrong. I personally just want to leave the tags on their main collars and then just throw the prong on there as needed. |

| We leave the collars on both of our girls, which also have their multiple display of tags (rabies, microchip & name). They are some blingin' girls!
Does the prong really work? We're having issues w/ Nissa pulling like a workhorse when walking. I try to say the "eh eh" command, stop her, tell her to sit, and then once she has a good sit/stay, we move again and she starts to pull. So, no luck w/ the gentle walking. |

| | Alpha | If I'm going to put a choker on a dog, I remove all other collars. They get in the way of the choker tightening/releasing correctly. I never use prong collars, so I couldn't say about them one way or the other.

The prong has worked better than any other collar i have tried. I have heard some have succes with a Halti or Gentle Leader but mine can't stand them and i worry about pulling in their necks with all the issues Dobes have with wobblers. |

| Same here, I never have just a prong or a choke on, though I do have to admit that the choke works better when its alone.
I'm a large fan of the prong, lexx is a great walker, but its nice to have in public just in case, when things are exciting he starts to pull...

| I have used a double collar set-up when weaning a dog off the prong collar. Usually at that point I attach a tab to the prong collar.
A word of caution, NEVER leave any training collar on a dog who is unattended. Many dogs have died by getting a chocker collar caught on something in the crate, house or fence.

I plan on doing a search to make sure someone else hasn't already done a thread, then post my experience--it tweren't pretty but I still have my two dogs, thanks be.

| My dogs wear thin tag collars all the time. Loose enough that they could get it off should they ever get caught and leather for the same reason (so they could chew through it).
When we go places they wear martingales with the tag collars, or leather slip/choke collars without them. |
