| I'm excited - only 6-8 weeks... After seeing voodoolizard's thread about Paco collars, and reading everyone else's positive reviews, I decided to treat myself and Red and buy a matching "forever" collar/leash set. I thought hubby would flip out at me spending $150 on it, but he hasn't so far... I'll just tell him that his PlayStation3 game "Rock Band" cost more than the collar/leash set, and we'll get many more years of use out of the leather than we will that PS3 game
Anyway, I'm getting the 1" Celtic collar in brown leather and the matching leash. My training instructor suggested getting a nice leather leash anyway (I currently use a regular nylon one), so I figured we get it to match the collar. They should arrive within 6-8 weeks
I'm sure the collar and leash will come with care instructions, but how do those of you that have Paco collars take care of them? I know you can wipe them clean, or use mild dishsoap - but what about conditioning the leather? Can you buy any old leather conditioning product, or does it have to be something specific? I can't access voodoolizard's other Paco threads because of the "blank white page" issue we are having with the forum currently, so I haven't been able to read back and see what has been suggested.

| congrats burn you wont regret it !! they recomend mink oil to condition the leather .. i have been doing mine about once a week ( only cos im a bit obsessive LOL )
and if its possible they look even more fantastic after they are conditioned.
the mink oil comes in a what looks like a shoe polish container and you just rub it in.. work relly well !!
cant wait to see the pics when you have yours !!

| i swear by the leather wipes that you can buy at tack stores. I use them to keep my bridle and saddle clean plus my boots, lexx's collars, the couch... whatever is leather!
Also, there are some really good waterproofing products on the market that have beeswax in them and go on clear providing a clear non-staining finish.

| Good for you!!! You and Red deserve a nice collar and leash and Red will just look sooooo handsome!
I'm getting Petey this one for his 2nd Birthday....also with the leash Paco Collars - Unique Leather Products for You and Your Dog
My hubby wants him to have it! Nothing is too good for his baby boy! I do have to wait a couple of weeks to order....I just bought him a new orthopedic bed! Can you say spoiled?????

Well I guess this is one nice thing about being single... the only person I have to answer to regarding my spending habits (and they are a little beyond my means at times...) is ME!
Yay for the new bling for Red. Can't wait to see how it looks on him! |
