| I think I was just so mad because his lack of observation resulted in injury. I'm already fighting Tucker's eas - I didn't need a bite wound on the ear to make things worse. And the laceration on his face bothers me too - too close to the eye for comfort.

| Stop the gender profiling or we'll have M.S.L(male specific legislation). Yes some men are a danger to the population but we're not all bad. My gf likes the Dobes but is very limited in helping out with training, feeding,etc... I tell her all the time that when i find a women who loves Dobes as much as myself she will be replaced, funny part is she thinks i'm joking. |

| I understand your frustration, berkshire. We've all been there. Sometimes I come home to find that hubby hasn't given any water to Red all day *shakes head* I've threatened to make him go thirsty all day to see how he likes it. Thankfully, he is very observant will health stuff though - he's the one who noticed the seroma on his back, and the blood on the floor from the cut pad, and he's noticed lumps on the cats before too. They all have their good points and their bad points...
Good luck with the paper and give Tucker a kiss from me! |

| Yeah, I think the responsibility falls on whoever the dog has taken to the most. At lot of Dobes, including mine usually cling to one particular person in the family. I am pretty much responsible for everything to do with my dog. My wife has not once and probably will never pick up after him after he goes #2 in the dog park. I have seen times where she will have a bag in her hand, and wait for me to come. Feeding, watering, playing, training are all on me. But if someone passes by and says how handsome Merrick is, then can't run out of things to say about the little boy. In the back of my mind, I'm like, "damn".
I do have one question for the poster though, how do the dogs ears keep getting damaged? Sound like he needs a halo. |

| | Big Dog | You know men say the same about us but I think that even with our dogs it's a mother thing, like kids you know it come naturally to us. I agree though men just don't know! |

| My husband is not at all observant about the dogs also - but he sure will notice blood on the floor .......... if only to point it out to me so I can clean it up
We have been married for almost 17 years (August), and have had Dobermans for over 15 of those years............. I take care of them and that is how it has always been. He didn't change too many diapers either, but is pretty good at taking out the garbage - LOL!

| Ok i have to put in my two cents worth now. Im of the male species and i dont think im worthless when it comes to my pups. I put in a whole lot of time with them BOTH !!!! I can tell you when they ate, went to the bathroom, who slept how long, who lost a tooth and which one it was. I take pride and care for my babies and only want the best for them. I know you are just venting so i dont take offence at all. By the way my wife does help out more than i would ever hope for and she thinks i have lost my mind over these two :-)
