| Skin so Soft actually works, I've used it many times when showing horses in evening classes. It's safe but very messy as it does collect the dirt and dust.

I didn't know if it was something that needed to be absorbed in the fur to work for example. I plan to use this but where are the other safe alternatives available? The horse spray for example?

| Has anyone ever used this product? Nature's Defense all natural spray for horses. They have it for $11.99 at specialty pet store by my house and it sounds nice. The owner of the store said a lot of horse people asked if he could carry it and they love it - it works really well and is all natural.
I'm going to try the lemon/rosemary spray first but if that doesn't work, I may pick some of this up and give it a shot. Just wondered if anyone has tried it? |

| Well it contains a few essential oils that are in many other repellents so I bet it does work!

Clove Oil . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.15%
Mint Oil . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.25%
Thyme Oil . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .0.25% |

| And Burns, if you buy the lemon and rosemary essential oils and you find that they are not working well enough at keeping bugs at bay you can use the essential oils for cooking as well. If you have a recipe that calls for rosemary and you don't have any just add a couple of drops of the essential oil to your dish and Voila! and the same with the lemon oil, it adds a great taste of lemon to many dishes. here is a reipe for a quick Hollandaise sauce: 4 ounces hot melted butter, 3 egg yolks, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper, 4 drops lemon essential oil. Put the egg yolks in the blender with the lemon oil, salt and pepper. Blend. Slowly add the hot butter and blend well. I HAVE tried this recipe and it was yummy! |

| Thanks, DLS! I bought some lemon and rosemary essential oil today and will be making up some spray. I'm just not sure how many drops of each to use and what amount of water... I have a feeling I'm going to end up buying a bottle of Nature's Defense anyway and using the oil for cooking |

| Burns, there are many recipes that call for different amounts of this or that. 20-30 drops of an essential oil per cup of water for an insect repellent should be OK. So if you want a blend, try 20 drops Lemon and 10 drops Rosemary to 1 cup of water. Remember to shake the spray bottle everytime before you use it as the essential oils do not mix well with water. |

I know essential oils are very concentrated but I didn't have any idea where to even start. Thanks again for all your help and putting up with my never-ending stream of obsessive questions! |
