I know of a Rottweiler who lost ALL pigment after a rabies shot. Around his eyes, lips, mouth....all turned a pinkish/white. Very freaky. It is to bad too, because he is a BEAUTIFUL dog and would have done very well. | Did the pigment ever come back? |

| I have used Kelp before and honestly didn't see any difference in my dogs. They were on it over 3 months. It claims to darken pigment, and to reverse graying in some older dogs. None of my 4 dogs got any darker, and Aubrey's gray did not recede.
When you say loss of pigment, is the spot pink or white? Could it per chance be a scar? Maybe it had a scab over it you did not notice and it fell off and left a lighter scar. I wouldn't be too worried at this point. If it starts to spread and get spotty it could be vitiligo. vitiligo Vitiligo in a rottweiler | Pet Medicine | Pet Medications | Pet Meds | Pet Health | Pet care | Daily Pet blog

| I will take a picture and post it in a little bit. It's white looking very small, just came up yesterday.
Will kelp help this because it's NOT hair related, it's on the actual lip???
Thanks for posting the link about vitligo Dobes&hounds. |

| My friends choc lab looks like the Rott after she had a litter of pups. Riggs' littermate has loss of pigment on her lips where the top and bottom connect. She also uses stainless bowls.

| I will email my friend with the choc lab and see if she did get better and what she used. Riggs' littermate is about the same.
If I don't get back to you, feel free to email me direct...

| I found this regarding loss of pigment...
Loss of pigment is an auto immune response/ problem. It can be triggered by a number of outside sources as well as internal.
Toys- rubber, latex or vinyl can cause it. |

| | Alpha | I have had this problem once in my male. It was connected to an infection. He had a sheath penis infection and was licking himself way too much there during that time which made the loss of pigment. Once the infection cleared up and he stopped the obsessive licking, no more loss of pigment and the black came back as normal and usual.

| My horse lost pigment on his muzzle. Vet said copper dificiency. He's on daily 72 high preformance. Within 7 weeks his spots were all gone. I have pictures that the vet took but they are on my computer at home. They have a canine formula. Daily72 - Because Nature Knows Best |
