Smile My first dog show/breeder meet & greet

So I went to my first dog show today to meet my breeder. It was great! I see why people get into them. I was just as exited to finally meet the breeder that I decided would be the best choice. She said of course there is a waiting list and she still needs to meet my fiancé and our dogs to make sure everything will be kosher and even after that we still might not get a puppy simple because she may not have enough. But hopefully it will work out and if it does we will bring him home around end of December/early January! Ahahah the waiting it’s so hard. But after meeting her I’m undecided on which sex we should go with. we originally wanted a male but now I’m not so sure because I already have 3 very small male dogs. But I can’t wait whatever sex or color I just want my Doberman

Many if not most male dobermans do not get along with other male dogs in the household--fights can start suddenly even after the dogs have gotten along fine for a long time, and once they start, you generally can't allow them to be together again. I'd definitely recommend a female dog for you.

Now I definitely don't want that to happen. I was leaning towards the male because i wanted that velcro dobe I understand the females are more independent. But I am concerned about a fight breaking lose. Thanks for the feed back I really appreciate it. I think i should call The breeder and tell her I want a female instead.

If my Louise was any more velcro, she would be impossible to live with - I can't walk out of a room without her following me ............ in fact, I can't hardly walk from one room to another without 3 Dobermans trailing behind me.

Each dog is an individual - some are more velcro than others, no matter what their sex.

I obviously LOVE male dogs because I own 3 male Chihuahua’s. I originally wanted a male Dobe because everyone says how VELCRO they are. But I have started to get concerned because I feel like the dobe might be too aggressive with my little ones. Do you think it will be a problem with my other three? It’s so hard being in this position I don’t want to make the wrong choice. And being located in Massachusetts it’s ever harder to find a reputable breeder. I swear it seems like nobody in mass even owns a Doberman.

the girls are more independent, but no less velcro! my dobes love small dogs, I've had yorkies and havanese in my house, that I have shown, and I've had no problems at all. You will just have to monitor as your pup learns how to limit its play according to the size of the other dogs. And don't worry about colour, health and temperment are the most important things.

Wanted to agree with VelmaDobe and add this is not true in my case either.
A female can be very velcro, it is a trait that is part of the breed, not just the ones with a penis. I own both sexes and I would not say females are more "independent".
Getting a female Dobe would be the best in your situation, you are going with a Dobe, so don't worry, you can't go wrong!
Also, don't feel as if you have to limit your search to only your town or even your state.

yeah I told the breeder that I will take the dog that she feels will be best for us. So as far as sex and color it will be up to her.
