| Once vocal always vocal. But I kinda like that in Dobes. But then again I'm pretty vocal myself. |

| Well, the really endearing side of vocal is, they vocalize their joy and bliss, too!
I love his rumbly groans of bliss when he settles in to bed for the night, or somebody sweet talks him or rubs his ears just right.

Kali hasnt stopped barking since i brought her home. She Barks at me, Barks at Mars, Barks at the Cats, Barks at her Reflection, Barks at the Ferrets, Barks at the birds outside, if she can see it she barks at it. And somtimes she just thinks she see's somthing she needs to bark at. and dont even get me started on the fact that she usually wakes me up and scares the pee outta me in the middle of the night, when she barks at her own bad dreams.
Oh yeah i almost forgot to mention that when ya swat her little fannie with a paper for barking she turns around and barks at the paper.

Instead of hitting her with a newspaper, why not clicker train her to bark once and then have a shush command, instead?
Very easy, very effective, and sets the pup up for success.

| Once a drama king or queen always a drama kind or queen. My Boris grumbles at the TV when He feels it's too loud. My girl Brie has a lawnmower type bark that lets you know she's feeling attention starved. |

But, you said you're doing it to "get her attention."
How's that working for you?
Did you not say she then barks AT the paper?
If you've never tried clicker training before, I think you and the pup will really enjoy it--and I've found it's one of the fastest ways to get a bit of control over undesirable behaviors they are offering you--in this case, excess barking.
I use all different kinds of training tools, but I appreciate reminders sometimes that if something I'm using just isn't having the results I want--it's a good idea to try something else!
