Select a basic area where Zeus can play and fence in that area. A cantillever gate will be about $2000. It opens and shuts with a Door King operator and remotes are in your cars or you can carry a remote. Here is a link to display the gate:

P.S. I also have information about a driveway alarm that will sound a tone in your house (wireless) when anyone comes down your driveway. Not expensive at all -- about $400.

thanks scoob you will see my problems when you come for a visit

we also have a lab mix who patrols the farm. his name is beau.....well beau kills ground hogs with one shake.....we also find dead coons and possums. he really is a great farm dog! all those wild critters come in looking to eat the chicken or other birds. last night though..peeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuu!!! he tangled with a skunk! I hope the fence atleast keeps a few of the wild things back a bit from the house.

Java 'bagged' her first squirrel while out on her weekly run thru the Patriot's Path with hubby, neighbor and his lab. Max has def been a bad influence since he is a notorious critter-catcher...We have a gopher hole or two (one is actually living in the overflow drainpipe for our dry wells) and am sure that Java would go after them as well if she could get to them.

BTW - what's the best way to get skunk off of a dog?

I have heard of all sorts of things to get the stink off......my plan is to just let him wear it off lol!

beau is such a good dog.my oldest daughter brought him home as a pup 5 years ago begging to keep him! I protested! because somehow I knew she wouldnt care for him and he would end up my dog.she took care of him for about a year....then moved and did not care for him. beau loves are farm....I think it is funny how he sticks here like GLUE.nothing makes that dog wander out of sight.....not deer....other dogs....critters....cats.he is also one of the smartest dogs I have ever met.he knows his job is to keep the wild critters away.....and leave the farm birds alone. for the most part he does very well at not killing the chicken or guinea birds.even our JRT doesnt bother the birds.....now if it would just rub off on zeus! ha! he loves to try to catch a bird!

Skunk smell solution

Quote:
BTW - what's the best way to get skunk off of a dog?
A few years back when my dog that just passed got skunked (he always killed things also), I was desperate to find something that worked to get rid of the smell. We all know that tomato juice does not work. To make a long story short I paid $25. for this formula after reading all the testimonals (even from people who had been skunked). It worked pretty good, better than ANTHING I have ever tried before. So here it is pasted below.

The Formula:
1 U.S. Quart of Hydrogen Peroxide (3%)
1/4 Cup of Baking Soda (Sodium bicarbonate)
1 teaspoon of liquid Dish soap

When mixed together, the solution will
chemically change the properties
of the skunk odor. The soap will help break down
the oils in the skunk essence.
Remember to use this solution while it is still bubbling.
Rinse off with tap water.

Use the formula at your own risk.
Observe all safety precautions and warnings
that would apply to Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda.
This solution generates oxygen, so do not seal the mixture
in a closed container as the pressure may cause an explosion.
