we often put up electric tape and let the horse's mow that area.......so horse fence will be great. we have a fence puller so we could get it tight enough....and run the electric tape too help keep dogs and horse's off it

crash.......our spot back here is truley BEAUTIFUL!!!! everyone who comes back here say's they would love to have it! and we really do love it also....I just dont want to take away from the beauty with a odd looking fence. but I sure would like to have a fence around the entire outside!!!!....in my dreams! we would have to get a survey for the west side.....south we could follow the old fence line and north is road.....west is the only side we have a few neighbors.

I am thinking also the south fence wouldnt be 100% due to the water.....so far zeus doesnt go in too far....so as long as he doesnt swim around it we would be ok lol!

Mine never really swam until he saw a flock of geese at the other end of a BIG pond, but then....oh my. I wouldn't trust that your doggy wouldn't suddenly learn to like the water given the proper provocation. (Incidentally, he swam all the way across the pond until he got close to the geese and then realized they were bigger than he was--sitting up on top of the water--and there were a lot more of them than of him. He stared at them and they stared at him, and then both the flock and the dog decided to call it quits--discretion is the better part of valor!)

Hi... I have never posted before but have been religiously reading these forums while waiting for my Dobie Pup. I was going to introduce myself when he arrives....
We have a girl mixed (Sato rescue) dog already and she luvs to run!! Since she tends to chase anything that moves, we decided to put up a fence within our budget and that doesn't upset the elderly neighbors who have been so used to no fence separating the land for as long as they have lived here. So, we decided on BestFriendfence.com (also known as Benner's)... We have always been in the yard at same time as our dogs, don't leave them out all day so this type of fencing made sense to us and is more affordable than lots of fencing. The one thing I would recommend is the heavy duty one and the chew guard on the bottom of it. Check out their website, it might be what you're looking for.

Since you are already using solar, why not investigate solar-powered wheeled gates - a neighbor down the road has one and am going to consider one when the time comes.

We are facing a similar delimma, altho' we only have 2 acres to worry about. The deer have knocked down the aging split-rail fence along the back of our property (put up in the 70s and slowly rotting away), and we have split-rail along one side and a tight row of spruce along the other. The dogs have a run, but we are in the process of pricing out our options and I am having major sticker-shock.

our solar stuff is out on the hill in what we call the front=south side.....when we enter the drive we first see the northside.we live 100% off the grid.

I am sure my husband could rig up a solar gate ....he will smile and say ok I will put that on my list ha!....worth a try!

welcome flintpond!.....I would consider that fence if I was only holding a dog....but our horse's do much of the mowing back here. so horse fence is about the best deal we can get. if your fence is not strong enough I recomend a hot tape placed low around the inside edge.......a zot or two will keep the dog off the fence

flintpond......is that like some sort of plastic fence? I can see the sticker shock! lol!!!!! for us.....living out here ....I dont care what others think ha! we have no neighbors really anyway. so the farm fencing will work better for us and cost much less....92.99 for 100 ft x 60 in
