| Best example of "breedism" i've heard yet! I refer to anything that I am told that sets dobermans apart from other breeds "breedism" ie, don't bring him to the dog park because he's a doberman, THOSE dogs are vicious... things of that nature
so I have the best example ever in the whole world. So ridiculous that it actually put me into near fits of laughter.
Kyle and I and of course Lexx are heading up to a friends cottage for the long weekend, leaving tomorrow.
The friend is talking to his mother on the phone and mentions that we are coming and of course, that we are bringing lexx.
her response was the following.
" Well... I don't think thats a good idea... I mean.. the neighbours are trying to sell their place, I don't really think that you should have a doberman up there"
WHAT????hahahah
needless to say we're still going!
Has anyone else had anyone say something SO ridiculous to them?

| Bwahahahaha!
That is pretty ridiculous.
I can only repeat that stupid myth that goes around and around in my Appalachian culture--that Dobes' "Brains keep growing inside their pointy heads and it makes them viscious and they will turn and start attacking."
I had a neighbor, who up til that point, I had thought of as reasonably intelligent, repeat that one to me.
I looked at her, adjusted my paradigms, let the sarcasm button switch on, and replied, "Yeah, it really IS a huge problem. Sooo hard to pull Ezra off those brick buildings he's been randomly biting lately."

| | Alpha | I don't understand why people even care when someone says something stupid about their Doberman. Like Julie said, use it as a source of comedy and laugh it off. When you buy a Doberman, Pitbull, Rott, or any large intimidating breed, you have to expect alot of people saying stupid, uninformed things. When I tell people I am getting a Doberman in a few weeks, I have already started getting the "aren't they viscous?" or "won't they turn on you?" comments. I don't really care what other people think, its their tough luck, because of their ignorance they won't know how wonderful Dobermans are.

| I agree with Dobeguy on this one. I recently had someone at a party tell me that dobes will turn on their owners. I just smiled and said "oh really?" I had to act like I had no idea that I owned such viscious animals! It's best to just have fun with people like that and act as ignorant as they are. |

| That's ridiculous that the neighbors trying to sell their place should have anything to do with Lexx. Ah well, definitely something to roll your eyes at.

| my friend pretty much told his mother that she was ridiculous and seriously, what could us having a doberman on the property next door possibly have to do with selling their cottage?
i'd personally be more concerned about us! being loud and intoxicated than poor little lexx who would likely lick them to death. I just thought it was so hilarious and random that i had to share!

| Shoot, when I went to look at my house for the first time the next door neighbor was in his front yard in just his fruit of the looms. Even stopped to chat with us for a few minutes before he decided he was going to go inside and put some pants on. Mind you, it was mid afternoon on a nice sunny summer day. If that didn't turn me away from buying the house there isn't a dog alive that could. Rick wasn't exactly a Matthew McConaughey if you know what I mean. |
