| unmessy, easy-wash kongs?? I know this topic has been discussed and posted (kong fillings, etc), but I really don't like messy kongs. I leave moonshine in the kitchen when I am out and not in his crate, so the mess would be everywhere on the kitchen floor!
I have tried cracking an egg into a kong with kibble, peanut buttering both ends, and frozen, but this is not only terribly messy (egg goo on the soles of your feet, anybody?), it is also difficult to wash (peanut butter get stuck inside kong).
just how do you all wash your kongs? using your fingers and trying to get peanut butter scum out?
what about fillings? I find that the neatest way is to put very little peanut butter on the small end of the kong, put some kibble in it, but the large hole of the kong is too large if you know what I mean, to completely seal with peanut butter.. cream cheese is just as messy.. and, the kibble I use is small, and will pop out easily of the kong
help?! |

| Funny, I read this post after I read the thread about stupid advice, and when you said you leave moonshine in the kitchen it just made me laugh. I just imagined alcohol all over the floor. No good advice, anyway. |

| not sure about mess on the floor, mine have always licked stuff out. i normally use kibble but put hot water on it to make it into a mush. stand the kong in a small plastic bag ( freezer bag) so one end is down, spoon mush into the other end with a small spoon. close the bag and freeze.
have not tried peanut butter cos my kongs are huge and it would be cheaper to but a joint of meat for them to crunch on lol.
i used biscuits once made to mash with water and left over cake ??
as for cleaning, boiling water, leave it to soak and a thin baby bottle brush works fine..
as for the floor never had a prob cos the lick it up before it even has chance to hit the floor !!! |

| I wash the kongs in the dishwasher, and I fill them with roll over and PB some times over the end. PB does make a mess, I know some friends who have taught their dogs to lay on a mat for their treats- not me, mine go where they want LOL

| I use the Kong peanut butter mixed with kibble, fill the whole thing up, then freeze it. It doesn't make much of a mess frozen since the dog licks it as it thaws.
I handwash mine (no dishwasher here). When Red's done with it, I rinse it out, and sometimes let it soak in the dishwater. Then I just cram the dishrag into it twist it around, clean the holes with my fingers, and viola! Done!
I use the King (size) Kong for stuffing, btw. The bigger Kongs are easier to clean. |

| | Big Dog | Phoebe grew up on peanut butter filled Kongs until she had so many bouts of horrible diarhhea and was found to be allergice to peanuts.
Now--- I fill her Kong with either American cheese or whatever cheese I have around or I will stuff some 4-5 of her treats in there. Certainly not as messy as peanut butter. |

| I pack in some cheddar cheese using my finger until it squishes and fills up the smallest part, then fill most of the rest with dog treats and finish with a final layer of really tightly packed cheese. Doesn't seem to make a mess and dog licks it spotless. Don't really like peanut butter because it's messy and dog doesn't get it all out, also we have carpet everywhere except the kitchen. |
