I wash my kongs in the dishwasher. I have usually used peanut butter, canned dog food, dry dog treats or cream cheese.

I use bananas for filling. I usually save them in the freezer if they get over-ripe, and I'll mix that in with some honey and flax seed and a bit of peanut butter, and then freeze the whole thing. It cleans up better than straight peanut butter. I put the Kong through the dishwasher on the pots/pans cycle - haven't had a problem yet...

I don't have my puppy yet but I have cleaned up peanut butter messes before (little nephew likes to make life difficult). I find that a wet swiffer with the scrubby end gets sticky messes out of linoleum.
