| | Alpha | Bed time bothers Okay so a little venting and a little problem solving....
Who's idea was it to get Doberman, my SO's, yes I love Leo wouldn't trade him for the world. Who's idea was it to let him start sleeping with us after he was kennel trained, again my S.O. So we have a king size bed, and always will. Leo sleeps with us and so does the cats (most nights) Now that Leo is full grown, (or close to it) he wants to teach him to sleep in a bed on the floor! UGH! He thinks it's too crowded and is sick of the dog hair on the sheets. (Leo has to sleep under the covers at night) Jon tells him NO and he will lay on top of the comforter, then sneaks in when we fall asleep. hehehe I think it's funny, but someone else is getting mad. Is it even possible (which I know it is) but how hard and how much work is it going to be, to reteach Leo to not sleep in bed with us?
Anyone been through the same thing? Any advise?

| LOL, don't those puppies look so cute and its great how they snuggle in the bed with us....Then they grow up....hahaha
The curse of the puppy..... Sorry no help I can provide. I never allowed that day one...... You do have my sympathy though...
Maybe get him a leather couch, instead.

| I kicked mine out of the bed after I got the second one. Two full size dobies, me, and a queen size bed...no thanks! I honestly just kicked them out of the bedroom completely so I don't have to worry about them sneaking in. Altough, a few times when the fiance is there we've left the doors open and they stay in their room. I just keep telling them off when they try and get on the bed.

| mine have stayed in the kitchen from day 1..
they are not even aloud upstairs.. im a mean dobermum LOL
it is possible but might be hard work.
im wondering if it might be better to put him in the kitchen or another room rather than expecting him to be in the room with the bed and not get on it ??
we got misssy when she was nearly 2.. she has learnt and relearnt a lot , just say no.. put him on a big comfy dog bed.. you will prob be in and out for a few nights to put him back and when you fall asleep he will prob sneak back..
so like i said before maybe a different room would be best.
it would just be like having a puppy again.. let him cry for a bit.. go say no go to bed.. sleep time etc what ever you normally say for bed..
he will adjust..
good luck !!

| | Big Dog | I think it's not fair to kick him out of bed now. He'll be heartbroken.
It's not his mistake, why should he be paying?
Leave him, please. |

| | Alpha | He will be heartbroken? I will be heartbroken!! I don't think I could just do the whole thing of shutting the door and putting him in the other room....I can't listen to him cry
Guess we'll see what daddy says.....

| the easiest solution would have been to not let the bad habit start, but we all know how easily swayed we are by some sad dober-eyes...
goodluck!

| Yeah, you can change that. Charlie used to sleep on my bed until my partner moved in with me. I made him (Charlie, not my partner ) a great bed on the floor right next to me - his beloved mattress and a duvet - and he got used to it within a matter of days, no problems. Mind you, we use the same arrangement when we're on holiday or staying with my parents so it wasn't completely strange to him.
As long as he's close beside me he doesn't seem to care whether he's on our bed or in his own.
