| Charlie is microchipped. When we go on holiday, I also put a tag on his collar with my cellphone number on it.
Legally in the UK we are required to put easily visible collar tags on our dogs giving our name, address, and phone number. However, like a lot of women dog-owners here, I don't do that for obvious security reasons.

Charlie's always within about 10 feet of me except if he chases a squirrel in which case he might charge a whole, ooooh, 30 feet or so away before getting lonely.

| I know some breeders tattoo and chip, but I decided just to chip, as most of the buyers are pet homes I found that pet people would turn around and chip the dogs anyway, so figured I would just do that. Was glad I had them done before the ears b/c they removed their colour bans and some looked so much alike I wouldn't have been able to tell them apart otherwise.

Is there only 1 type of microchip or is it possible to have 'incompatible' chip readers so that the chip cannot be read?
